The Sep7agon Game Night Megathread! (Updated 9.8.2015)

Welcome to The First National Sep7agon Game Night Megathread! There's a bunch of game nights in the works and it might get tricky to keep track of the threads, so I'm going to link them all here for convenience. This thread will also be used to gauge interest in particular game night ideas, and for early planning like dates and such.

Also, I'm not the only person allowed to arrange a game night. If you're trying to get something off the ground, just hit me up and I'll update the OP.


NEW: For my own sake and for yours too, here's a set of guidelines for hosting a successful game night:

--Gauge interest in the game first: Before you do anything else, you should figure out if you would even have enough people for a game night. Four is generally a good number, because you can have full lobbies in co-op friendly games like Left 4 Dead, Halo, or Castle Crashers

--Choose a date at least a week away to give everyone plenty of notice. This gives users the time to work the game night into their schedule to find the time to attend.

--Weekends are best for ensuring maximum turnout.

--I find that 8pm EST is a good default starting time.

--Be vigilant! Bump the thread at least once a day until the event starts, to keep it near the top of the board and to make sure nobody forgets about it. This step is super important.

--Be wary of time zones: Sep7agon has users in various parts of the globe, so when announcing the time, be sure to mention a time zone, too. Furthermore, it may help to choose a time that allows users from across the pond to play at a reasonable hour. It doesn't have to be at night!

--To help ensure a good turnout, keep a list of attendees so you can send invites when the event starts. Also, many of our users are on Steam, so scheduling the event on the group's calendar can be a smart reminder when the time comes.

--Finally, keep in mind that usually not everybody on the list of attendees will be able to make it, because stuff happens and things change. Don't take it personally.

--And of course: have fun with it!

Titanfall
I don't know how many of us have Titanfall on Xbox 360 vs. PC, but I'd like to host a game night on PC because that's the version I have. There's no thread yet because I'm still deciding if it's worth pursuing--if you have Titanfall on PC, let me know in this thread!

I'm warning you now.

Halo will have the most attention, and yes that includes me.

We'll play just about anything, so sure 

I may or may not get in the habit of PMing attendees before the game night starts. Is that a good idea, or would everyone just be annoyed by that?

Updated the OP with tips for ensuring successful game nights--partly for my own sanity >.>

A) didn't get to buy BC2, so couldn't play
B) I have all Halos on 360 and XB1
C) I hae Titanfall, Battlefield 4 and GTAV on XB1

Halo Reach game night is in less than a week, BC2 game night has been rescheduled for September 6 @6pm EST. I can't recall a time I've had two game nights on the same weekend, so here's hoping we get a decent turnout.

Starting with BC2, game nights will be on Sundays by default because that allows more freedom to start at a time more convenient to some of our users. Thanks to Chally and BaconShelf for bringing this issue to light.

;_; I remember trying a TF2 game night ages ago, but I can't remember if it was on Sep7 or back on Bungie. We couldn't play through all the lag we had, because IIRC it was an ill-fated lobby of Americans, a Euro, and an Aussie all trying to connect at once.

That sounds terrible.....
