I like reading other people's horror stories so post 'em if you have them.

-Most of the World at War campaign on veteran, obviously. It was frustrating throughout but I somehow managed to keep my cool and didn't break anything. I think I only yelled once or twice. I don't think the difficulty was exaggerated but when you realize that enemies will infinitely spawn until you push up to the next part of cover, it isn't so bad.

-Most Mariokart races. My anger reaches a boiling point during that game, I don't know what it is about it.

-Xenoverse 2 expert mission 15. Holy hell, I got really far and nearly won but got absolutely DESTROYED before I could win. Seriously FUCK that mission

-That rotating spike pillar in God of War. FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCK.

Really just that one asshole boss in the Bloodborne chalice dungeons. Or just the chalice dungeons in general.

I've never been so terrified of procedurally generated levels.

Zedonius in Chapter 13 Ninja Gaiden 2 on Master Ninja difficulty. Holy fucking shit what an annoying boss. Your timing has to be perfect throughout the battle otherwise he can take almost all your health with his grab attack.

He was such a nice guy in Chapter 8.

I've never played the series but I've heard nasty things.

When I played through Majora's Mask for the first time a couple years ago, I decided to play on the Collector's Edition disc for the GameCube, because I didn't own the game on N64 yet, and it also wasn't out on 3DS at the time.

This turned out to be a mistake, because this particular NGC port turned out to be a complete and utter piece of shit—which confuses me to this day, because I've played the game casually over the years several times without any big problems, but as soon as I decided to actually play through and complete the game, the port shit the bed on me several times.

Every time a new screen loaded (e.g. passing through a door in a dungeon to load a new area chunk, for example), the game had a small chance—I'm gonna say 2%—of crashing. The game would just freeze and occasionally make a high-pitched noise, forcing you to quit out and restart all over again.

This sort of thing happened most frequently in dungeons.

If you're familiar with how the game works, you know that it doesn't use a conventional saving system. Saving in that game is a big commitment, because you can't just save whenever you want—and there's a good, legitimate reason for that. But for me, that means that, whenever the game crashed, I had to start all over again hours and HOURS back.

But I still put up with it and managed to 100% complete the game anyway, because I simply loved the game that much.

It's funny because a lot of people bitch about the other chalice bosses but he was the only one that I had trouble with. Descendant was a parry queen, watch dog was easily avoided, shit even yharnam was considerable easier, I think I killed her first try.

Dude just gets my goat.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
- Halo CE on Legendary. Truth and Reconciliation can go fuck itself, especially Hell Room.

- One Shot, One Kill on Veteran in CoD4, the part where you have to wait for the helicopter. You got guys spraying at you with machine guns from halfway across the map with laser-pinpoint accuracy, you got guys with shotguns that will sneak up on you, and every once in a while dogs will run at you too. Oh and by the way, there's no cover at all and if you find a spot where you think you're safe you get spammed with grenades. Got stuck on this part for almost 3 hours.

- Starcraft 2 Ladder play made me want to flip my desk on numerous occasions and shatter my keyboard.

- Overwatch and Hanzo players. Self explanatory.

- I was constructing my high school in Minecraft and had to only build 2 more structures to finish everything before I was gonna do the small details. Log onto Minecraft one day, sees save file, click it, and the file is corrupted and I lose hundreds of hours of work. Haven't touched Minecraft in years because of that. I was so fucking mad and I still am.

Trying to get the Diskun trophy (trophy that basically signifies 100% completion) in SSBM was fucking stupidly difficult. I've never had so jump through so many stupid little hoops.

The trophy requires you to score every single "bonus point" after a match at least once. When you complete a match in that game, you'll get points based on the random shit you did during the fight—like, you'll score 1000 points if you bounced on a Goomba's head or something, or you'll get 2000 points if you KO'd while someone using a certain item. You can also lose points—maybe you'll lose 500 points for missing too many grabs.

There's also really stupid and obscure ones. You get 8000 points for throwing a Poké Ball during a game and having a Celebi or Mew pop out, for example. Mew has a 1 in 151 chance of appearing, but only after you unlocked every character and every stage (which, in itself, takes a lot of work). Celebi has a 1 in 251 chance of appearing, but only after you do a bunch of other chores first.

Then there are bonuses that are just asinine. There's one called Hammer Drop, that simply requires you to drop a hammer. As in, the item. The problem is, once you pick up this item, your character starts swinging it around uncontrollably, like in Donkey Kong, making it impossible to drop except under some extremely obscure circumstances, like getting hit by lava as you're swinging it around, making it so you can drop it. It's so fucking weird.

And then of course, there are bonuses that are just straight-up insanely difficult, like No Damage Clear, which has you beating one of the arcade modes without taking one single solitary hit. Even when you set the game to Very Easy, this is an extremely frustrating one to get, and I'll never forget when I finally did it with my main man Roy.

Here's a whole list of the rest of the bonuses you have to get.

Once the game records them all, you unlock the final trophy:

I probably consider this my #1 gaming accomplishment.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
Probably something from the FF13 games and their demand for near flawless execution in battles. Basically had to grind to the level cap in an area to be on even grounds with most bosses.

Yeah its a polarizing trilogy. Deserves some of the flack and some not.
