Don't know about that claymore, but average sword weighed 2-3 pounds.

Actually, no. Warhammers have wooden shafts, which immediately cuts down on weight, and the steel head typically isn't too big and as such doesn't weigh that much.

Battle axes are another for sure no, as again they're made with wooden shafts and the axe heads are designed to be thin as you're not cutting down a tree, but a person.

I think it all just comes down to the error of people normally thinking medieval/melee weapons weighing more than they historically did.

Guns are a different story though, an M16 is almost 8 pounds, and a loaded M249 is up to 23 pounds. So your original point stands.

My girflriend has an energy sword replica. The thing is made out of some kind of metal,and is pretty heavy and sharp. Like seriously, you could stab someone with it just as easily as you would with a knife.
