"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

They will add depth by having an underwater level.

Compare this video to the 2nd video in the OP.
honestly i cant tell the difference.
Did you even watch any of the videos? Half swording isn't in any of the games and for the 2nd video you don't get locked in combat like that. You just bounce your sword off the guy or whatever. If you actually watched the videos you can tell that half sword isn't in the games and that the combat isn't anything like the 2nd video.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
Guys, the problem with completely realistic HEMA in video games is that it's just too quick on reactions and doesn't make for fun or sometimes eve fair gameplay.

I'm sure it could be toned down a little though. At most I want to see other sword forms besides slashing and some type of locking.

TES would be so much better with Dark Souls style combat.
Christ, no.

I don't see why you people care about swordplay in TES so much. It's a fantasy game with magic and fucking lizard tree people.

TES has NEVER had deep combat and it has never needed it. The most complex system it ever had was Morrowind's, and that just boiled down to spamming whichever attack type was most efficient with your equipped weapon.

If you want deep combat, that's what games like Dank Souls and Chivalry are for, not TES.

Now, the area where TES really IS suffering, depth-wise, is in the leveling and equipment systems. That's what you should be worried about.

I'd like to see more damage effects on localized areas of the body and have that change enemy behavior, like limping or inability to use arms for striking.
I'd like to be more mobile in combat as well, rolls, backsteps... Yeah make it a little more like Dark Souls is where I'd be going with this.

Also to answer the topic title, they'll probably modify it like they did from Oblivion to Skyrim, just enough so that we'll be complaining about it a few years later.

half sword fighting was in the first vid and is different they the hack-slash of Skyrim yes. id be ok with that.
the second video is a clusterfuck. i cant see how that 'style' would be implemented past QTEs.

i'd like for them to add some depth to the magic combat, too. skyrim's magic was so fucking boring. destruction was only "hard" because you had to aim.. the most fundamental gameplay mechanic there is... everything else was even easier than melee combat, especially conjuration.

I would love it, but I don't think it'll happen without mods.
Even Skyrim's mods can't fix it's combat system. Changing something like melee combat requires a complete engine and physics overhaul. If TES VI's combat sucks, it's doubtful that modders will be able to to much to improve it.

This is the only team I know that is working on it. They've got a few nice features worked out, like making it so weapons actually hit were they aim, but it's still early alpha with nothing released yet.

Oblivion's deadly reflex mod was pretty great for what it was, even it it was a little too flashy and buggy.

So what does it being a fantasy game have to do with anything? The swordplay in this game is boring as shit. Why not add any depth to it or add more forms to it?

They tried a character based system which makes sense. It's an RPG and not a FPS game so it does make sense to have the game centered around your character more. It just ended up being too RNG. With some fixing up it could have worked.

So why should I have to play other games? That's just retarded. I'm not asking for the game to be as changeling as Dark Souls. We simply want the combat in this game to be a lot more fun.

And wouldn't you think the gameplay as well would be a good focus to?  The game can have the greatest story ever and it still wouldn't change much when the gameplay is lacking. For Skyrim I downloaded a bunch of mods that fix things and I still don't play the game because the gameplay is shit. It's boring as fuck.
