Would Ingame ads in AAA games be acceptable?

So i had an odd thought of live ads on changing billboards in games, it seems absolutely absurd. I’m not talking about an ad showing up when you die or something, more like a company can pay $____ to have an ad appear on a live billboard and a company can pay even more to get a permanent product in the game.
What do you think? Does it seem like a good choice of action?

only if doing such a thing would provide the developers with more revenue, otherwise there's no purpose

Burnout had some ads from Burker King I think on the billboards.
And Alan Wake was using Energizer batteries - but that's more of a product placement.
Sports games have real-life ads all over them.

i think it might open a can of worms that i'd rather leave at the bait shop, but as long as it would remain Zack Snyder MoS-esque I don't think it would be too bad. Blowing up a Zellers might be fun.

the bionic commando reboot was notorious for having pretty gratuitous product placement in billboards, but i didn't mind

the most gratuitous i've ever seen was in disney skate adventure, which had product placement so far up the ass, there were even sidequests that involved going to a mcdonald's and delivering people licensed food products to them, and also one that involved nokia phones

didn't think anything of it as a kid but man that shit is really funny in hindsight

Games have had "product placement" type ads for years. I know NFSU2 had Burger Kings and Best Buys around the city and some Tony Hawk games have Mcdonalds on some levels.
