Which game had the best enemy variety?

I'd say Halo 2 because of the introduction of new covenant species, the scarab, the golden and mega-sentinels, the prophets, and the Flood. Hopefully, we'll have all those in the upcoming Halo games, barring the Flood unless... you know... they're still around. (Which would make sense, considering that other installations could be holding them.

Either Halo 3, or Halo 4. Halo 3 had Flood Pure Forms, which changed the idea of the Flood from mass spam to actual quality units (despite how rage-inducing the Ranged Forms were on Cortana). And Halo 4 had the Prometheans, which I think was well done, but making them allied with the Covenant later on wasn't a good move. It would have been cool for Halo 4 to have 3-way fights in more than one mission.

I'd have to side with Halo 4 on this one. The Prometheans were really a step in a different direction than previously established.

Note that the Covenant in Halo 4 are merely elitist Remnants who couldn't let go of the OG Covenant's backwards Religion entirely.

Elites were already dinosaurs to begin with. Grunts were supposed to be arthropodic. Jackals... they must be another genus of Jackal because that's in no way bird like. But, I like the raptor look. It just needs to be a skirmisher subtype, though.

Halo 4. I really liked the Prometheans. Just wished they didn't side with the Covies, I enjoyed watching them kill each other while I just sat back and relaxed.
