We're not talking about movies (even though they run at 24 fps for the majority of them)
If film directors can make artistic decisions like that, game developers can, too.
It doesn't work like that.
Two completely different forms of media.

Just because it's fine and works for movies doesn't mean it's fine and works for games.
I disagree. Strongly.
You really can't though.

Framerate of movies and games aren't the same.
Movies don't suffer from stuff like input latency and visual feedback like games do, both of which are tied directly to the framerate.

Because it's easier on the eyes, it just feels physically better to experience.
That's not objective.
It really is

Would you say that a game playing in 30fps is easier on the eyes than one running in 15?

Of course you would, because ~24fps is the threshold for what humans perceive as consistent motion
It doesn't matter to me if it's "easier on the eyes". If 15fps is what they chosen, then 15fps is better.

1fps would be better, if that was their artistic choice.
Oh okay you're  trolling.  Sure it maybe be their decision,  but that doesnt mean that decision isnt completely dumb as fuck.

Sure artistically its their choice.  But damn there are a lot of shit artists in the world.

I wasn't calling it pseudo-philosophy on the FPS part at all. I was referring to your talk of more pixelated graphics and lower res stuff.
Well, there you go--I don't see how that's pseudo-philosophy, either, but whatever.

But I'm saying it's possible for game developers to say, "Artistically, I think it would be better if this game ran at a low frame rate."

Not because it's "more cinematic"--whatever that even means. But for other reasons. I don't know.

Wanting to give an authentic '80s gaming experience. I don't fucking know.

I'm saying it's conceivable for 30fps to be better, so no amount of frames-per-second can be objectively  "better" than another.

Ideally, it wouldn't.

Consoles limit what can be done.
Not if it's a good console.

Consoles as they are right now are just PCs, but limited. Obviously.

You don't know because they never ever say that. Unless you're Ubisoft who said 30fps = more cinematic and that they didn't make a female lead in Assassins Creed because the character models didn't allow it or some retarded shit.

Pretty sure most arcade games stuck to pretty high framerates

There are some games I can't get on the PC. Especially PS2 games, some Xbox 360 ones (e.g. Red Dead Redemption, and Eternal Sonata are two good examples outside of the obvious ones like Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Fable 2) and even PS3 ones like the Zone of Enders and Metal Gear HD collections, and Metal Gear Solid 4.

For older games, sometimes I prefer emulation, but it's much better to play a classic game on its original console. Once upon a time I even had a Wii and through it I played lots of NES and SNES classics.

I know--I'm not even saying it's ever been "done," necessarily. I'm just saying it could be done.

At the end of the day, I agree with you--I do not care about fps either way as long as its consistent, but even THAT can be made inconsistent for the sake of art. It's done in movies all the time.

Frame rate is just one facet of what people cite makes PC games function better than console games, though. There's other facets I'm trying to cover as well.

Thats not a good console then....because its limiting to what we can do.

Youre running around in circles here.

I'm saying we could MAKE a GOOD console that isn't limited. God fucking damn.

Go ahead and call that a "PC" if you want, but the point is, I don't like console wars and it would be better if there was just one gaming platform. Maybe two--home and mobile. But that's it.

If a developer chooses to develop a game that runs below 30fps, then they're a stupid and shitty developer.

That would only be a bad thing though.

The competition is a good thing and helps the industry.

lol

Why.

"Because 30fps is objectively worse than 60fps."

How.

I said below 30fps. Not at 30fps.

I have no issue with games being 30fps.

How is a lower number "worse" than a higher number just because it is lower?

If you get 1st place in a race, did you lose? Because you got the lowest possible number?

For that we need to have a console which can upgrade....then there will be all kind of consistency issues....we need a console at a graphical level higher then current PC at time of its release.

Sure some  console games look good now, but in the following years I dont think these boxes will keep up......this is kinda getting to the point that the lifespan of consoles will get shorter as tech is ever swiftly developing.

Which is really leading to PCs being the end game.

Consoles are already PCs. That was my point. They're just designed to perform only one function.
