And I'd love to hear your explanation for the existence of console exclusives
Console exclusives shouldn't exist. I hate the fact that there are multiple consoles on the market--I think there should just be one gaming console, period, and then none of us would be having this debate.

As I said, your personal preference shouldn't influence the factual things we're talking about.

I'm not attacking what you like. You can like PS1 looking polygons with Lara Croft pointy tits, but that won't change the fact that modern games on higher performing systems will look better.
Do you understand what I'm asking you? Why is higher poly objectively "better"? Why does "more" automatically mean "better"?
I'm not getting into this pseudo philosophical debate when it's a rather objective field to be talking about.

Sorry

But I guess in the end -- Sort of feels like everyday its harder to stay happy where you are. There are all these ways to look through the fence into your neighbor's yard.

Why even risk it? its safer to stay distant.

Because it's easier on the eyes, it just feels physically better to experience.

You seem like the type of guy to argue that the systematic oppression of women in islamic cultures is fine because it's "muh culture"

That's not meant in a literal sense, by the way, because I know you don't. I'm just saying that going "WELL MAYBE I THINK THAT A GAME IS BETTER IF IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT" is a stupid argument
Cultural relativism isn't a great comparison, but whatever.

If you're filming a movie that's designed to authenticate the experience of living in the '70s, the director has the opportunity to make an artistic decision: Film in 30fps, because they couldn't film any better than that in the '70s. Artistically, that's the better decision. 30fps is BETTER than 60fps in that context. Has that ever been done before? I don't know, but there's another example.

Have you seen Raging Bull? Great movie. Martin Scorsese made it in 1980. However, he chose to film it in black and white.

Why? I'm not sure. But it was his artistic decision, and some might argue that the movie would be worse if it was in color. Yes--Black and white is better than color, in that context.

That's the point I'm making.
Most cinema runs in 25fps
Whatever. Lots of them run higher than that nowadays--you understand the point I'm making. Now address it.

Or, concede that I'm right--because I am.

You're right.

The PC would be better without all the consoles inflating the market :^)

mommy and daddy never forked out for an 800 gaming rig for me. I want to play games so never could commit for saving up money for it myself. I could commit 380 euros to get consoles so yeah...
Uhm

Gaming computers are cheaper than ever and you could buy one that ran the same as a PS4/Xbone and have it still be cheaper. The thousand dollar rigs you see are for idiots who probably want launch nukes and overclock their PC's.

We're not talking about movies (even though they run at 24 fps for the majority of them)
If film directors can make artistic decisions like that, game developers can, too.

I don't care about 30 vs 60 fps honestly. My only gripe is that if you're gonna commit to one, it better be consistent, because dips in it are some of the most annoying things ever that suck you out of a game.

It doesn't work like that.
Two completely different forms of media.

Just because it's fine and works for movies doesn't mean it's fine and works for games.

It really is

Would you say that a game playing in 30fps is easier on the eyes than one running in 15?

Of course you would, because ~24fps is the threshold for what humans perceive as consistent motion

Iunno, lads

I don't even have an issue with people preferring consoles over PCs

I only argue when people try to justify consoles at being better at something that a PC obviously outdoes them at

I agree completely. The point that I'm making is that 60fps can't be objectively better than 30fps--I've painted a number of scenarios where 30fps would be preferable. You call it "pseudo-philosophy"--I call it making my point. If I'm not allowed to make my point, I don't know what else to do.

It doesn't matter to me if it's "easier on the eyes". If 15fps is what they chosen, then 15fps is better.

1fps would be better, if that was their artistic choice.

I wasn't calling it pseudo-philosophy on the FPS part at all. I was referring to your talk of more pixelated graphics and lower res stuff.
