That's what I did (because it was my brother's old PSP that he gave me since he got a new one), and like I said, I ended up making it worse by smudging the screen and somehow getting a hair strand in it.

Ummm, if you're worried about the warranty, Sony doesn't really support the PSP anymore. Just remove the 2 back screws behind the batter and the middle screen at the bottom of the device and that should remove the faceplate easy. Then you can clean it that way.

Okay, was it actually inside the screen itself or is it behind the faceplate?

Ummm. Trust me on this. Sony no longer supports the PSP. So removing that warranty sticker isn't going to matter. All you have to do is remove the warranty sticker, take out a couple screws, and the middle screw on the bottom of the PSP and the faceplate should pop right off. What more do you have to lose if you're going to buy a new one?

Just think about it.

Its your money however.
