What was wrong with MGSV again?

What was it that really made people foam at the mouth? Gameplay wise I'm enjoying every second of it, and it's hard for me to be truly involved with the story since I've never played a MG game before. Why was it so bad to some people?

story kinda tripped over itself. it wasnt that bad though. the venom snake reveal was pretty cool.

Repetitive gameplay (the stealth aspects are fantastic, but it gets tiring after 20+ hours of just run to base, sneak/go hard, extract, repeat)

lackluster story that was hyped to be THE definitive game to tie everything in as we see Big Boss go from hero to full on villain that needed to be stopped. We got none of that in terms of cutscenes and more or less just got told it in the final cutscene.

The gameplay wasn't the problem really. The story was the main issue.

Repetitive locations combined with side missions with very little substance that are in themselves repetitive and get old, topped off with a story that's all in the wrong order and incomplete.

Barely any story out of casette tapes, which can be annoying to listen to when you get interrupted by notifications.
Quiet's dumb reason for being the way she is.
No fast travel across the map.
Empty landscapes between missions.
Characters not really doing much.
