If Dice/ EA didn't want it comoared to the previous games, they shouldn't have called it a battlefront. But giving it that name means you're trying to compare it to it's predecessors, which it will be.
No matter what they called it people would compare it to battlefront because of the similarities

I personally haven't played it, but from what I understand it suffers from the same issue as Titanfall in that it's very barebones and lacks content.

If 9 mp modes, 3 co-op modes, and a little over a dozen maps is lacking in content.

It is.
Especially when the game from 10 years ago had more and better content. Modes, maps, and co-op in this game are dreadful as well.

Battlefront 2 had 18 maps at launch. That's 3 more than the reboot and all of the ones that weren't battlefront one remakes were pretty shit. Battlefront 2 had 7 mp game modes as opposed to the reboots 9. GC was just a dressed up instant action playlist, same with the "campaign".

If we want to start talking effective game modes Battlefront really only had one, conquest. In the reboot you can at least get a match in every game mode. Granted this is at launch though so it's possible that it may be whittled down to 3 as time goes on. However this is still 3x more game modes than battlefront 1 and 2.

I should also add that the first map pack is free and adds another 3 maps to the game so that'll bring it on par with 2 for map count.
Saying lolwut doesn't make you right. This game has no diversity. Say what you want about galactic conquest and campaign, but people loved them, and that's why they are mad its gone. Same with space battles and the clone wars era.
Also like I said, the content that IS in this game isn't even good. Maps are horrible, and its pathetic that they limited 13 maps to only 4 planets; meaning less variety. Ultimately, the design choice was made to create more opportunity for dlc, and that sucks. There is no need to have maps dedicated to the ice caves from hoth, or the droid shit from tatooine. So even if you aren't wrong in saying that the game has enough content (which I definitely don't think it does), the game still is severely lacking in variety. Where is jabba's pallace? Naboo? Tantive IV? Dagobah? Space battles?

Of course saying lolwut doesn't make me right. That's why I supported it with facts.

So 9 different game modes is lacking in variety? This isn't halo 5 where all but two are a variant of slayer. This isn't Battlefront 2 where 3 of the 7 game modes were different versions of CTF.

Blast - TDM

Dog Fight - TDM in the air with a heavy emphasis on protecting/destroying the enemies vip shuttle when it appears for a big chunk of bonus points

Cargo - CTF

Drop Zone - TDM with some sort of pseudo-territories elements thrown in

Hero Hunt - Basically juggernaut from Halo

Hero Battle - Basically VIP from Halo, but with VIPs that can and want to fight instead of run away and hide in the corner

Battlefront 2 had

Conquest - self explanatory Battlefield clone

Hunt - gimmick mode that nobody played because it was native species that serve as a minor annoyance in 90% of the maps vs actual soldiers

2 Flag CTF

Space Assault - A handfull of people get to fly around in ships while everyone else plays corridor shooter 2005

Assault - A fun gimick mode where everyone is one of the stupidly overpowered hero units

The maps should take iconic locations, AND make balanced maps out of them. Battlefront 2 didn't have incredible map balance, but they were in iconic locations, which made them fun and exciting. The reboot accomplishes neither of those. It takes fragments of planets we've seen in the movies (with the exception of sullust) and then makes mediocre maps out of them. A lot the maps are unbalanced, and the rest are just flat out boring. Not a single map stands out like hoth or endor did in 2. It's just a whole lot of meh.

Walker assault on Endor is really the only map i'd say is unbalanced. However walker assault on Hoth does have super shitty spawns for phase 2. Every other map is fine balance wise.

Iconic locations don't mean shit if the maps are just downright frustrating to play due to a myriad of poor design decisions. Hoth was the one of those two that stood out and it was a Battlefront 1 map. Endor was piss and unremarkable.

It seems you find iconic locations to be "fun and exciting" while I find well designed maps to be "fun and exciting" though so that's where we reach an impasse.

The maps you listed also suck ass other than Dagobah.

Dogfight is better than spacebattles. I've had more fun playing that than I ever did playing ship boarding battles.

The 9 game modes dont offer anything exciting or diverse though. Most of them do boil down into tdm (or a slight variant) and the ones that don't (droid run) are just plain garbage.
 And your argument that Jabba's palace and Tantive 4 suck is wrong when a) those areas both have much more meaning to the movies than ice caves/smugglers den and b) people loved playing on them. Besides, what I listed were just a few examples. Planets (environments) battlefront 2 has: 18 Planets reboot has: 4

Can you not see how that is a problem? Whether or not you enjoyed those maps is irrelevant, they add more "star wars" to the game, and they add more variety. Game mode number is also irrelevant when they suck and you are still playing in the same spaces.

So let me get this straight. You want maps that take place in "iconic" locations over maps that play well? Well that's just a matter of personal preference then. I kinda prefer my multiplayer maps to lend themselves to a good mp experience instead of a hallway clusterfuck.

Yeah, the lack of variety in locations is a bit disappointing. However the argument here is that the reboot "doesn't have enough content". I've demonstrated that it has about the same amount of content as the previous title. A few less maps, but a few more game modes. After the first DLC (which is free) it'll have more content than its predecessor.

game type break down
Supremacy - tug of war/conquest hybrid that relies on the capture of territories to win

walker assault - both sides simultaneously attack and defend various points throughout the map. Objectives are the main priority however the ability to just straight up outkill your opponent can have a major effect on how this plays out.

Droid Run - moving territories from halo really

Blast - TDM

Dog Fight - TDM in the air with a heavy emphasis on protecting/destroying the enemies vip shuttle when it appears for a big chunk of bonus points

Cargo - CTF

Drop Zone - TDM with some sort of pseudo-territories elements thrown in

Hero Hunt - Basically juggernaut from Halo

Hero Battle - Basically VIP from Halo, but with VIPs that can and want to fight instead of run away and hide in the corner

Battlefront 2 had

Conquest - self explanatory Battlefield clone

Hunt - gimmick mode that nobody played because it was native species that serve as a minor annoyance in 90% of the maps vs actual soldiers

1 flag CTF

2 Flag CTF

Space Assault - A handfull of people get to fly around in ships while everyone else plays corridor shooter 2005

Assault - A fun gimick mode where everyone is one of the stupidly overpowered hero units

Space 1 flag CTF - CTF but in space
The maps should take iconic locations, AND make balanced maps out of them. Battlefront 2 didn't have incredible map balance, but they were in iconic locations, which made them fun and exciting. The reboot accomplishes neither of those. It takes fragments of planets we've seen in the movies (with the exception of sullust) and then makes mediocre maps out of them. A lot the maps are unbalanced, and the rest are just flat out boring. Not a single map stands out like hoth or endor did in 2. It's just a whole lot of meh.

Walker assault on Endor is really the only map i'd say is unbalanced. However walker assault on Hoth does have super shitty spawns for phase 2. Every other map is fine balance wise.

Iconic locations don't mean shit if the maps are just downright frustrating to play due to a myriad of poor design decisions. Hoth was the one of those two that stood out and it was a Battlefront 1 map. Endor was piss and unremarkable.

It seems you find iconic locations to be "fun and exciting" while I find well designed maps to be "fun and exciting" though so that's where we reach an impasse.

Well I would argue that none of the battlefront 2 maps were poorly designed to the point of causing frustration, and if that's the case then I wonder why you bought a battlefront game in the first place.

I'll agree to disagree that the reboot has good maps. Even if they are balanced, they aren't memorable or even fun to play in any way.

Because it was Star Wars and despite all of the issues the second game had I still had fun with it.

I didn't like it that much, felt too boring (Although tbh, FPS shooters are starting to drain down the hill.), and it's not as exciting like the original Battlefronts.

I played it today at my friend's house for a few hours. The game definitely feels like Star Wars alright, the sounds and everything else is there. Game looks beautiful and the detail on everything is greatly appreciated. Kudos to Dice on that part. I can't take the voice for Darth Vader seriously though. It just doesn't sound right without James Earl Jones voicing him.

As for gameplay, the kill times are pretty ridiculous and way faster than I expected. It was hilarious to see people constantly jumping around trying to dodge blaster fire to try not to die. Sucks that there's no way to roll outta the way to dodge projectiles like in Battlefront 2. Also, in the Beta for some reason I found out it hard to play in Third-Person mode. I was playing in third-person the entire time I played Battlefront today and it felt great. I was tearing it up with that blaster that looks like a MG42.

The heroes felt weird and awkward. The only heroes I had fun with were Luke and Darth Vader. They felt more polished and more traditional than the other heroes. I hate how they didn't give Sidious a lightsaber to use. His lighting sucked balls in BF2 and it sucks even more balls in this Battlefront as well. He's a Sith Lord god dammit give him a fucking lightsaber. Did Dice not watch Revenge of the Sith or play any other Star Wars game with him in it? The other heroes like Han Solo and Leia I didn't bother with. They didn't interest me at all really.

I had some fun moments when I played Battlefront but the more I played it, the more I wanted to play Battlefield 4 instead. I love Star Wars as much as the next guy but I dunno, this new Battlefront lacks a certain feeling to it that I can't really put my finger on.

Hm, I actually liked the 3rd person in the beta, took a little getting used to but I got the hang of it. And yeah, luke and Vader look like the only cool heroes, I think the sounds of the lasers and stuff is what blew me away the most, it felt like I was watching one of the movies, but even with that I agree there's just something about it that just doesn't feel right

I personally haven't played it, but from what I understand it suffers from the same issue as Titanfall in that it's very barebones and lacks content.

If 9 mp modes, 3 co-op modes, and a little over a dozen maps is lacking in content.

You're still defending a clearly shitty release and game? It's hollow and yes, lacks content. That's NOTHING compared to the content of other games being shipped.

Base game mechanics are pretty good. Though having only 4 planets with VERY LITTLE difference between the different maps on said planets is disappointing. It just feels like there are only 4 maps in the game.

Might be 8/10-9/10 when all the DLC is out, but kinda shitty that you need to pay $110 for a full game.

May Battlefront 2 have a campaign.
