What does Bloodborne do different than Dark Souls?

I am watching vids of it and it looks extremely similar to both Dark Souls games right down to the combat and animations and much of its menu design.

Now, I am not a massive fan of the Souls games. I liked them a lot! But what does this game offer that the others dont? I am cynical right now. Speak to me like you want to win me over.

Well from the videos it seems like the combat system is the same, traversing through the game is similar too but it's set in a new universe (I think), a new map to play in, enemies, weapons. Maybe it's more story driven than DS. Who knows? Find out next week on Pokemon

It all comes down to the fact that Miyazaki wanted to make a dark souls game without being caught up in the dark souls lore or setting

No shield. No magic. Faster paced. More aggressive enemies. More of a horror element to it.
I'm getting my ass beat so far. Need to get dodging for each type of enemy down.

You'll probably pass me. First From game. I'm in that phase where you're just miserable and hate the game cuz you keep getting your ass handed to you.

I get super far from a lamp (bonfire), and know I need to find the next one or I'll have to fight through those 50 assholes again. Then it throws an enemy I've never seen before which of course bends me over and has its way with me, and I lose all my progress

Determined to get the combat down tho. I keep panicking even though I know souls enemies go down quicker with confidence.

I would be happy to engage in some jolly cooperation. Once you get a hang of it the combat the games get way more fun

Not at all. He wanted to make the hybrid of Demon and Dark Souls without resorting to B teams pathetic attempt at it (Dark Souls 2). He drew inspiration from both. I mean, it's obvious just from the setting and the doll's voice actress (same as the one in Demon Souls).

But yeah, like Tyger said. What makes Demon different from Dark? But as someone who's played the game, I will say that any magical feeling you felt during the first run through Dark Souls 1, is right back here with this game.

I've learned to combo properly which is a night and day difference. Kinda like the switch axe from monster hunter.

That and to grind out some kills for better gear. Goin a bit smoother now.

stuff I listed in my first post mostly.

I never played the other games, but this seems more about timing and combo flow. Instead of taking hits to the face or lighting em up with magic you have to time your shots and have limited molotovs.

Probably more true to demon souls than dark souls was.

Looks really great. Not a huge fan of the Souls games but I'll definitely be picking this up when I get a PS4 next year.

yeah. it encourages a more offensive playstyle than DKS, a lot more dynamic that way imo. better than always playing reactively

Its not bad I just don't like the idea of making game for the purpose of being hard.
