As a fun fact, you can shoot the arms off the combat flood forms and they can't hurt you.  They'll just follow you around.
Didn't think of that.

there were so many

Overall, because my expectations were set so low, I'm pretty indifferent towards this level. I don't know what to think. It really wasn't that hard, for two reasons: 1. The shotgun kicks way too much ass, and 2. The sentinels are pretty OP, too. The level was almost like purgatory, in the sense that I kinda felt invincible, and there was no tension whatsoever.

The ending pissed me off for obvious reasons. We learn that the Flood can only be destroyed if we starve them to death, and the most efficient way of doing that is to destroy all sentient life with Halo.

...Which is clearly the best solution ever. And of course, they don't go for it, because "muh sentient life".

Bull fucking shit.

I think someone mentioned that I'd find 343 Guilty Spark (the character) annoying. I didn't, really. I kinda liked him. Not only was he kinda funny, he's the one taking the most LOGICAL route: Activate Halo. I'd rather be fucking dead than be ravaged by the Flood. Honestly.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

So yeah, not gonna write up a full update of this level. I don't really have much else to say about it anyway.
That's what the Forerunners thought lol

You would need the other six Halos to reach overall galactic cleanness and plant domination. lol

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
Considering the flood don't need food or water or air and have a seemingly indefinite lifespan, I wonder exactly how they'd starve. If anything using the Halo Array just purges the galaxy and leaves the flood to do whatever the hell it wants until the universe ends.

Mine's a tie between Silent Cartographer and 343 Guilty Spark.

I don't expect the last three levels to be much better, and those two were only decent. Maybe I'll be surprised.

Actually the array destroys organic matter. The rings can be tuned like instruments, so they can effectively destroy whatever you harmonize their frequency with.

The Flood is a credible threat so long as the Precursors exist. But if the galaxy is completely purged of all life, then there's there'd be no way for Flood infection to take hold.

Equally, everybody is all dead as well. There's a reason why it was the last option and why it was fought over not to be fired.

Here Verb. Watch this after you clear level nine. This gives a little bit of context as to how peachy being infected is. And if you want some more context, look up what happened to Private Jenkins later on.

You'd be right. Better dead than essentially being overwritten and part of an organic singularity.

I may as well move right on to Two Betrayals.

I like how I'm given a plasma pistol to take out the sentinels easier, even though I never used any plasma weapons all throughout the Library.

Get ready for some nonstop fun with the most irritating companion in the history of fictional entertainment, joined by endless waves of flood flooding up the place.

I didn't know Fi from Zelda made an appearance in Halo 10 years before her debut.

In general, the entire game has been giving me that Star Wars vibe, but this is the level where one of the marines actually cracks the line, "I got a bad feeling about this." I don't have much love for Star Wars as a franchise, but that line made me smile.

I thought that was just from the movie Aliens. Guess I need to rewatch Star Wars.

They drop grenades. They're likely cooking off in a chain reaction explosion started by a Carrier form or a rocket launcher wielding combat form.

I love that they can hold the heaviest weapon in the game with one hand, and aim it like it's a pistol.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
A few of them have Rocket Launchers.

TSC and the end of The Maw were my personal favorites.

Also TSC:E mod is sexy af. Would recommend despite poor Pelican/Spartan biped texturing.

I haven't been able to listen to music at all, because my laptop is undergoing repairs, and my desktop's speakers are shot. Otherwise, I would have brought up some of my favorite soundtracks. And by "favorite soundtracks", I mean just one, 'cause... There's only one song that I really like in this game.

It plays pretty often early in the game—you first hear it when you're making your headlong dive into Halo after the first level. Anyone know what it's called? I bet it's a fan favorite.

Brothers in Arms. It reappears in Halo 3 as well.

My personal favorite was a Walk in the Woods, but it only plays in the area in Assault on the Control room where you have to walk if you don't get the Banshee in time. It's also a bit too relaxing for a shooter game, but a good track nonetheless.

Don't worry Verb. We know your pain.

On the topic at hand, I always just loved level nine, Keyes. I won't spoil nothing.

But it was fun delving straight into utter chaos.

Brothers in Arms.
ARE YOU SERIOUS!? HAHAHAHA

I was just gonna bring up the fact that the song kinda reminds me of a piece from the Mad Max: Fury Road soundtrack. Because they're both very dramatic, with lots of heavy percussion going on at the beginning to get your blood pumping, and they both build up slowly in intensity, until they reach the cathartic, triumphant climax that sounds like hope, or victory.

The kicker?

They're BOTH called Brothers in Arms.

YouTube

Except Mad Max's is way better. They're very different songs, of course, but I just think it's funny that they have the same name, on top of the similarities they already have. I wonder if it isn't a coincidence?

Regarding how the flood aren't scary, Bungie do a shit job of setting a tone in a game. The novels depict the war as how fighting an ultra advanced alien empire where one of te species capture and eat humans. Eat them like hot dogs.

As for the flood not being scary...
