It functions better as a sniper when you get to the larger environments.

Assault on the Control Room, Keyes and Two Betrayals

really open up the sandbox with much larger areas than what you've really seen (Silent Cartographer excluded) thus far. Especially when you get the larger ai battles going on between marines and covenant that draw a lot of the attention away from you.

Also, here's a protip for later on; marines in this game were not programmed to drive vehicles apart from ghosts. So when you get to drive a tank later, if you want to go on foot, they'll abandon it as well. You won't be getting any armoured support in this game.

Not that there's a great deal of Ice driving in Halo 1, but it's pretty easy to drive once you get used to how slippery it is, although there are only like 3 areas in the entire game that I can think of (in both Campaign and MP), where the only way to get past is to drive through the Ice, with no possible way around.

It would have been a nice option in the Anniversary version to have rally points though, sometimes I don't want to play the opening section. Same with H2A.

I'm heading to Mackinac Island today, so I won't have a chance to crack at it again. There's a huge marketplace over where I'm headed, however--with lots of video game flea markets. With luck, I'll be able to find myself a new, functioning copy of Halo.

I'm gonna try to focus more on the positive from here on out. It would be redundant if I just went on about the stuff I'm not liking, so in an effort to combat that, I'll try to keep things fresh with every update. I'll also work on keeping the updates shorter.

Not that I'm not interested in the series lore, or anything--I am, but... I don't know. Books are books, games are games. Games happen to be interactive, and, well, fun. Books can kinda be a drag to read. Unless I'm actually learning something interesting or useful, I don't normally have the patience for them.

I guess I don't want to just flat-out say "no", so, consider that another "we'll see".

What I want to do is finish playing the games first--then I can start getting into all that other bullshit, if I so desire.

Ah. Yeah, I don't know about that. I tend to take a Mr. Plinkett stance on expanded universe type stuff--in that, all that really matters to me is the core line of games, so they're obviously gonna take priority. You dig?

Plus, it just seems like a lot of shit to read, too. How many books are there, and how many do you think are even worth reading? I remember reading an excerpt from the Ghosts of Onyx and thinking it was a joke <_<

Halo 2's is pretty good, but it isn't anything amazing. You won't really miss much by not playing 3 yet.

Because you've said numerous times that the 360 is a shit console.

Even though the Heroic difficulty specifically say "the way the game was meant to be played"
