MGS is and probably will remain your favorite franchise of all time--no one's trying to take that away from you

what pisses people off is when you start dismissing franchises you haven't even played because they don't "look" fun

i judge games based on how they look all the time--i see a trailer for some dumbfuck generic-ass dudebro FPS game, and i'm like, "yeah no, fuck that shit, that looks dumb and boring as fuck"--i might even mention how shitty it looks to my friends, and i might say, "no, that game just looks like more unimaginative FPS garbage"

but i know in my mind that i can't have a qualified opinion of the game until i play it all the way through
there's only so much you can gather from watching youtube clips

so i don't disagree that you can gauge SOMEWHAT whether you'd like a game or not based on gameplay footage
it doesn't give you the full experience, obviously--so you can't say the game's bad

Twilight Princess. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but the overworld was so empty compared to games like WW. WW is still the best 3D zelda if you ask me.

Was never a fan of MM though, so forgive me. I can understand what it had going for it, and it was easily the darkest one in the series and did that dark theme every way better than TP did, but still. Eh.
