Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
I think the MLB (Major League Baseball) The Show series (2015 to be specific) they have a ton of detail in it's player customization and little things to add to your player that other sports games could do well in following.
I remember putting all the sliders to the right to all my hitters in MLB 2K8 and I beat the St Louis Cardinals 101 to 0.
Good god...
Actually in the most recent The Show game they have a day/night cycle (legit) so I played 52 innings and went through the whole night to see a sunrise at Fenway. It was very worth it.
Really? That's pretty awesome. It would be cool to see fans leave and stuff as the game goes on for too long haha
omg that actually would be great. I saw one guy with a beer in his hand at 7 in the morning. lol
HAHAHA

pace of breathing changes after fights and stuff

cant be bothered to explain it
What games is that in?
I never really thought of this tbh but I like the idea a lot now >.>

it happens thru-out the battlefield series, i think

i know for a fact that in bf4 and hardline, your character would be gasping/panic breathing whenever you're getting shot at/explosion

it really is a nice detail and gives more of that "i'm in actual combat" feel

I've seen it in Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne, Dragon's Dogma and final fantasy.

Even then, it's only really shown in DS2 after a boss.

But it's a nice little feature I've always liked.

I use the Gamepad's screen a fair bit. It seems to have better resolution than my TV anyway, and I can play when my Mum or Sister are watching something on TV. It's well appreciated, despite being a gimmick.

I also love the ridiculous compound effect of explosions in Halo CE. Elites (namely spec-ops and Zealots) tend to drop a lot of grenades after dying, and a single explosion can result in a lot of humor to be had.

Road Rash 64 also had unrealistically forceful collisions, which often led to a comically high jump after hitting a truck.

I remember killing a Spec Ops Elite that dropped around 10 Plasma Grenades on the ground when he died.

That shit is ridiculous.

I swear they gave them that big a drop exclusively for the hilarity of a 10-plasma grenade explosion. The player can't even carry more than 4, and nobody goes back in levels to resupply Grenades, because they're really easy to find as you go along.

Those games use hip fire for the guns instead of aiming down the gun's sights/scope
Oh. I never liked that. I like scopes.
The thing with games with hipfire that isn't worthless is that you can fire while moving much more easily. Scoping generally slows you down in games, so accurate hipfire speeds the game up and makes strafing and movement in general more important, as opposed to standing still and just spraying each other.

Games where you go in water and when you come out, your clothes are actually wet.

The sheer amount of dialogue and writing in games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls. All of the notes, audio logs and in-game books are things I severely appreciate, especially when used to tell a story of something that happened (Such as Vault 19 in New Vegas)

Similarly, stuff like Mass Effect's Codex I love reading.

Yeah, but thenthat elemen of fast gameplay is negated when the movement speed is pretty much 1 metre/minute and there's no way of moving any faster *coughhalo3cough*

Cowbell + Grunt Funeral is probably one of the most fun ways to end your own life in Halo.

Yeah. I love how when you're being shot at (without being hit), your screen goes all blurry and your health doesn't regenerate. It really makes firing randomly in the general vicinity of someone useful for the team. I love playing as a support and bipoding down to just send a couple hundred bits of lead down range to keep people in cover and let my teammates go round and kill them.

All the suppression assists for me.

And remarkably efficient for clearing a room on legendary.

Like, setting off a chain reaction in a semi-enclosed space can wipe out and entire squad with one pistol round.

Strafe / gamma jumping and other forms of advanced movement. Way too little games have this kind of stuff.

Yeah, I think Titanfall's movement physics are what make the game for me. I vastly prefer zipping around the map with parkour than stomping around in a Titan.

Good hair and hair physics. Hair is so bad in games I can't help but stare at it whenever there's a close up of the characters

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.

Oh yeah, Dragons Dogma did this and you were actually slower for a while too, nice little detail that played a part in gameplay.

Rockets on my X
Visible damage systems.

As in the player themselves and their gear. The more wear your gear goes through the more patched up it looks. And likewise, your character, the more damage and wear there is, the crappier you look.

It adds a bit of a nice sense of "Holy shit I've gone on a lord of the rings journey."

On the subject, you know what would be ineteresting?

A game that focused on the small features. A kind of game where there weren't any tutorials or really obvious notifications. Ex, No health bar, but the players health being visually shown buy having them look more and more damaged, with a higher heart rate in the background as ambience.

No automatically loading a weapon when you're empty, but manually reloading it like gears of war style. If you fuck up you can misload it.

Fuck, make it a survival/horror/exploration game.

Call it Ambience.
