I don't care. Just because you won't get in trouble for it doesn't make it okay. This is where morality comes in. You shouldn't obey the law because you'll get punished if you don't--but because obeying the law is, generally, the right thing to do.

I don't think you fully understand how much goes into addressing such an issue from a criminal justice perspective. It would cost billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of man hours to prosecute these people.

Again--I'm not talking about prosecuting these people. I said that you probably should be prosecuted for what you do--just as a moral fact. In a perfect world, you would be punished. That's what I want. That's all I'm saying. I realize that it would be logistically impossible. However, that STILL doesn't grant you the right to steal.

And if you're not gonna get punished for it, then you can count on me to call you out on your unscrupulous behavior.

Sure, you can still argue morality and consent here because the developer did not willingly make the game available for free, but I do think that if you'd ask all indie game developers on whether they'd prefer a definitive and certain "not buying that" or a "chances are I won't like it and you don't receive any money, but if I do love your game I'll pay you", that most of them are gonna go for the second one.

I wouldn't. If I make a game, and I put hard work into it, then it's $9.99 or go fuck yourself.
