But I had a kind of fascination with him, whose grave was he guarding, and why? There was something noble about the entire experience, and despite dying curiosity drove me forward.Eventually I mastered dodging his attacks just from experimenting and observing. Then he started limping. This mighty beast that kicked my ass for hours reduced to its death throes fought on regardless. He reminded me about myself as a player. Why was I there? To get an awesome sword. In the context of the game, however, Sif guarded the last morbid memento of his best friend, and now this noble guardian was lain low by some sunburned douchebag. I felt guilty about the fight, justifying my actions as a player because I needed to progress through the game and survive. Sif taught me something about what it takes to win and some of what you lose to get there. He's the reason I'm under the impression Dark Souls is a good game, it's larger than itself. Tl;dr:Sif taught me something about videogaming and probably life.I killed sif on my first try.

Or that happens...But was it still a cool boss battle, do you think? If it wasn't, was there another which was cool?

Dark Souls is weird in that a lot of the earlier weapons you get in the game are the best, and a lot of the weapons you think would be OP (like dragon or boss weapons) are complete and utter shit.

Not unless you've planned it out somewhat and have something to tide you over. But the ring is necessary to beat the game. It's a fight you ave to do if you plan on defeating Gwyn. And I think it's one of the better moments of the game. You see the effect you have as a player on an already dismal world and you start questioning.

It also makes sense with the design choice for the upgrade system, From wanted players to stick with a weapon and master it over the course of the game, and putting out good weapons early would incite players to keep them.Like the Black Knight weapons, for instance.
