I finished this game yesterday and I've watched multiple playthroughs of it on YouTube to get a general feeling and to make sure I got everything.

No spoilers.

The game starts off telling you your life story, or at least your life since you met a girl named Julia. This interesting intro is meant to get you connected to the character through simple texts and dialogues, and it works. During the dialogue there will be brief moments when it will take a pause and flash back to the present and show you heading to your Firewatch tower in Wyoming. The story you receive at the beginning of the game is as important as the story you receive at any other part so I won't spoil it for you.

After the intro is over you go back to the present where you are standing in front of your fire lookout tower, you head up to report in to your supervisor and to get some sleep after your two day hike here. Upon entering you are greeted by your supervisor via a walkie-talkie, her name is Delilah.

During the following months you'll be faced with obstacles, mysteries, and a feeling of sadness. During these months your only companion is Delilah, who can be funny, sarcastic, and nice- depending on how you treat her.

The game is pretty damn good in almost every way, but the only downside is the ending (and the length), it's pretty sudden and uneventful, but there's some good in it. I'll explain exactly what happens in the ending in a spoiler, but I'll keep out the mysteries and what not out.
Spoiler
During the game a forest fire does break out, but it gets out of control. At the end of the game you head to your supervisor's outpost.  On the way there you the option to ask her to wait for you (the chopper is doing rounds and would come back for you) but no matter what she doesn't stay. When you get to her tower and while you wait for the chopper, you go up inside and sit at her desk and put on her radio headset. She's on the other end. You guys talk, decide what's next in life, and say goodbye. (it's all pretty sad). Then the helicopter is there and you jump in. Credits role and that's it.

There is another ending where you don't get in, you just stand there for two minutes and it leaves and the game ends, p shitty.

Also if you find a secret tape you get a different credit song >.> I've yet to find it.

Overall this game is a 8/10 the only real negative thing is the length and the ending, everything else was great.

You either die a hero or live long enough to become Mythic..
Honestly. This review was as short as the game.

Good game, but god damn it needs more to it. Filler or whatever you want. It sets up this atmosphere and then BAM, you're done.

Yeah, I beat it in a few hours, and there's not much replay ability.

Also the review was going to be longer, but I'm on mobile at school and after finishing the review the first time, sep7  crashed and I had to rewrite it.

Oh what the fuck, I was expecting some evil satanic Lithuanian woods cult to be discovered as the main dark secret in the game.

Isn't there supposed to be some horror element to it?

Not really. It's just an adventure game.

Steam says I played it for 3 hours, but that includes me pausing it and going to lunch.

I bought it when it was 10% of on Steam. I wouldn't advise paying any more than that for it, even though it's a good game.

I do wish that replaying the story with different answers to Delilah would result in different conclusions. Giving me the illusion of choice that really doesn't effect the story is kinda dumb.

Loved the visuals though.

ill admit i was somewhat disappointed in what the game ended up being. like Jocephalopod said, i expected some form of horror or an open world given the compass/map.

How short are we talking?
3-4 hours, usually. There might be some special cases of 5-6.

"Special" as in you don't know how to read a compass and map...

See you Cowgirl,
Someday, somewhere
I thought you didn't have a PS4.

I finished Firewatch the other day and loved it.
