Why don't you actually give it a shot and form your own "intelligent" opinion before falling to the masses online who suddenly think because they played Fallout 1 and 2, AFTER they were introduced to the series with 3/NV, that they know what's better and what isn't.

I'm waiting til I play the game before judging the system.

I don't feel I have enough information to make an informed opinion.

The only thing I kind of agree with is the no weapon degradation thing. Sad it's gone, but it was pretty much a non-issue anyway.

Hardcore mode would be nice, but I'm not holding my hopes up too much.

The majority of the Bethesda fanbase is like the most casual fanbase in existence. They think normal mode on easy is tough, they thought skyrim was tough.
i love that bethesda's idea of dynamic difficulty scaling is "GIVE EM A BUNCH OF HP AND MAKE EM DO A TON OF DMG"

Unfortunately.

Ah well, there is always mods to add it but it just isn't quite the same imo.

I thought hardcore mode for New Vegas was broken and annoying to begin with. It probably doesn't help that it isn't the best combat.

Anyone with eyes can see that Fallout 4 is going to be the most casualized game in the series to date and that it's not an RPG.

Right

that entire 10 min gameplay we see personifies the entire series. Gotcha.

This is coming from the Skyrim apologist.

Did you see the crosshairs?
Did you see the sprint?
Did you see the removal of skills?
Did you see the removal of weapon degradation?
Did you see the removal of repair?

Also do I have to remind you who is developing this game - the same guys that made Fallout 3.

Which is Oblivion with guns.

Right

Crosshairs and sprint are something damaging to an an RPG with FPS mechanics? Seriously? There is a reason the 2nd top mod (first exclusing the mod manager) for New Vegas is Project Nevada which adds just that. Bethesda is honestly listening to the community on that. Not much of an argument.

Skills was always basic in Fallout games, and I mean as basic as an RPG can get. It's not innovative at all, and while I was at first concerned it's gone, I welcome something new to try.

As for weapon degradation and repair, well idk why you made two points there, because they go hand in hand. I don't know if it's there, but would like it to be. If not I'm sure there will be mods for it.

New Vegas is also "Oblivion with guns" considering it's running on the same exact engine and gameplay with the only thing improving the god awful shooting being an ADS which, for console players, was still shit.

I'm going to wait for reviews before drawing many conclusions. Sure as hell not going to pre-order though, thing will be packed with bugs at launch.

Those weren't added until Fallout 3. Repair was almost entirely useless in 1 & 2.

tbh I am kind of concerned about lack of weapon degradation. But I'm not sure where Door is getting that from because Bethesda has yet to make an official announcement on which we probably won't get. Perhaps it's an exclusive feature to a possible hardcore mode. Reserving judgement until release.

Skills is just a fanboy meme at this point. There are plenty of successful perk orientated rpgs that enhance the game, as was aforementioned; The Witcher 3. Using Skyrim as a testament to the 'failure of perks' is hardly fair, since the perks were pretty much useless in the game.

On a more positive sidenote it's pretty verifiable that power armor degradation is going to be a key feature, at least.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
Repair as it was, was nothing more than an annoyance

Also, degradation was introduced in F3. There was no durability in Door's regurgitated opinions Fallout 1 and 2.

I suppose from a post apocalyptic perspective it would make sense for weapons to deteriorate after gratuitous amounts of usage.

But likewise, I'm not going to lose any sleep if Bethesda haven't integrated it. Nothing a mod won't fix if you're really that distraught about it.
