You should feel good that your book has a big enough following that people will add their own creations to it for Fanfiction.
As an amateur writer, I don't find it insulting if my book gets enough fanfare to the point where people can take characers, places and events from my world and pour their own creative juices in it.
Quote from: oss on April 23, 2015, 09:35:37 AMBy your standards, okay, well trying to force yours on other people is pointless.I'm not "forcing" anyone to believe what I believe, though. I don't understand why people keep saying this. You can mod the fuck out of your games--I'm just going to tell you that I think that's stupid.
By your standards, okay, well trying to force yours on other people is pointless.
You keep saying that we shouldnt either.
Quote from: Voro 'Cinotai on April 23, 2015, 09:37:28 AMAs an amateur writer, I don't find it insulting if my book gets enough fanfare to the point where people can take characers, places and events from my world and pour their own creative juices in it.That doesn't mean anything to me. Just because you don't "find" it insulting doesn't mean it's not an insult. And just because it may not have been intended as an insult, doesn't make it not an insult, either.
Quote from: oss on April 23, 2015, 09:41:24 AMYou keep saying that we shouldnt either. That counts as forcing people now?...
But if I don't take it as an insult, then it's not an insult.
Just because you find it insulting doesn't mean it's an insult.See how this works?
Because NO. There AREN'T any fucking My Little Ponies in my story. That's not what fucking happened. You don't get to decide what happens--I do.
I shouldn't have to explain why plagiarism is bad, either.
It's fanfic. You don't decide anything, they do.It's their own story built off of yours.
Quote from: Lemön | Queen of Anal on April 23, 2015, 09:45:03 AMJust because you find it insulting doesn't mean it's an insult.See how this works? While that's true, you've yet to show how it's not an insult. I've given my reasons for why I think it's an insult already.
Quote from: Lemön | Queen of Anal on April 23, 2015, 09:49:00 AMIt's fanfic. You don't decide anything, they do.It's their own story built off of yours. And why should I be okay with it?
Because developers support it.
Because the original work still fully exists.
Because it harms literally nobody.
you can't stop it
Quote from: Lemön | Queen of Anal on April 23, 2015, 09:49:00 AMIt's fanfic. You don't decide anything, they do.It's their own story built off of yours. And why should I be okay with that? Because every other author is? No thanks.
Does it hurt you? No.Does it suddenly replace the original work? No.Do they get every single scrap of credit? No.Can you stop it? No.
Quote from: Lemön | Queen of Anal on April 23, 2015, 09:50:42 AMBecause developers support it.So?
QuoteBecause the original work still fully exists. But no one uses/respects it but me, apparently. And apparently I'm boring for doing so.
So it's not insulting.
You're literally retarded. Modding absolutely does not mean you don't respect the original work.
Quote from: Lemön | Queen of Anal on April 23, 2015, 09:56:00 AMSo it's not insulting.Because other idiots don't find it insulting? Why should I care about their incorrect opinion?
QuoteYou're literally retarded. Modding absolutely does not mean you don't respect the original work.Yes, it does. If you respected the original work, you wouldn't mod it.
Literally the worst logic ever.Sure, if the game was awful and you modded it to make it somewhat good, then you'd have a point. But for games like Skyrim? A game that's generally praised? Yeah, no.
and i realize that's a big generalization but i'm pretty confident that i'm mostly right
Ignorance is bliss.

A game that's generally praised? Yeah, no."generally"the only people who like vanilla skyrim are the same people who play games like call of duty and maddenand... nothing elseyou know, casual gamersyou know, people who don't really care about games that much
Skyrim is still one of the most played games on Steam, 4 years after release.
PC gamers generally aren't casual gamers that only play dudebro shooters and sports games.

This "debate" is the equivalent of beating your head against a brick wall.
Please show me the evidence that you apparently have that says every PC user that plays Skyrim is modding it.
