I have no idea why anyone would even be hyped for it after Sony kicked off the lead creative director for refusing to turn the game into a generic action adventure game like uncharted.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

Ueda left Sony because of "a sense of crisis within [himself] about a lot of things" (http://www.edge-online.com/news/ueda-terribly-sorry-for-the-last-guardian-delay/), he wasn't fired. He's still on the project as a consultant. And I have never heard anything about Sony wanting to turn TLG into an Uncharted-like.

Where do you even get your information from?

In 2013 he was being forced to "reengineer" his game and was later forced out of his position and stated that Sony now had full creative control. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put two and two together. It also doesn't help that some key employees have left the studio as a result of whats been happening internally.

I have zero hype or interest in the game with a marketing team heading the games development. You can choose to believe the hype though, have fun with your disappointment.

Spoiler
Also "internal crisis within myself" as per edge (which seems to be the only ones reporting on that) is incredibly vague and just so happened to coincide with Sony taking full creative control over the project.

Another look at the same article in which Ueda talked about his departure from Sony:
Spoiler
"Why did you decide to go freelance?
It’s difficult to explain, but in a nutshell it was because I felt a sense of crisis within myself about a lot of things. It’s hard to [say exactly what], but in terms of my own growth and career and so on.

What did it feel like to leave a company where you had worked for so long?
When I worked at SCE, I was on an annual contract, so it was not as much of a change as those around me might think. Recently, I’ve been working at my home office and often at SCE’s Shinagawa office in Tokyo.

What was Sony’s reaction?
It was not easy, but I can’t go into the details just yet. It will be good to be able to discuss it along with a post-mortem of The Last Guardian someday."
The first signs of his resignation, not firing:
Spoiler
"Rumors began circulating Wednesday morning after a story at UK-based Eurogamer claimed that the Team Ico studio head has resigned, and was continuing to work on the oft-delayed The Last Guardian on a contract basis.
According to that report, Ueda's departure is one of the factors in that game's continual delay." - (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/38881/Sony_TightLipped_On_Ico_Creators_Rumored_Resignation.php
And the confirmation:
Spoiler
"Following a series of rumors that Ico creator Fumito Ueda has left his position at Sony, Gamasutra can confirm that the esteemed creator is no longer an employee at the company.

In a statement received by Gamasutra on Monday, Sony confirmed that while the creator is no longer working as an employee, he is finishing the upcoming The Last Guardian on a contract basis, and is 'committed to completing' the project." - (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39100/Confirmed_Ico_Creator_Fumito_Ueda_Leaves_Sony.php)
On the subject of re-engineering:
Spoiler
" 'Hiatus, I never… It was Jack Tretton! He used that term, and I said no, hiatus is misleading,' Yoshida said. 'It was a hiatus in terms of releasing new information. The game has never stopped--the team has always been here. They're going through the reengineering of the game, so the team size is smaller, because it's more engineering focused right now.' [...] 'So, we're waiting for the right time to reintroduce The Last Guardian in an appropriate way. I can't… Well, the game is in development, and it's well staffed, and Ueda-san is here, working--even though he's not a Sony employee, he's dedicated to the product. But we're not ready to update yet.' " - (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/sony-reengineering-the-last-guardian/1100-6415289/0)
I see nothing inherent to presume that Ueda was forced off of the team. In context of the interview, Yoshida most likely meant the actual definition of engineering (the art or science of making practical application of the knowledge of pure sciences, as physics or chemistry, as in the construction of engines, bridges, buildings, mines, ships, and chemical plants. - Dictionary.com) in that they were working on the technical aspects of the game. This makes a lot of sense given the information we have on why the game was delayed back in the first place:
Spoiler
" 'The team is back in Tokyo is working hard, and there are some technical difficulties that the team is focused on right now,' [Shuhei Yoshida] told us. 'That's why we don't have an update.' " - (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-06-06-the-last-guardian-still-having-technical-difficulties-says-sony)
Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog (Ice Team, makers of the Uncharted series) occasionally met with Team ICO to chat and share ideas:
Spoiler
'The different Sony first-party teams do not necessarily actively work together, but we do communicate with each other,' confirmed Moss's fellow director of technology Christer Ericson. 'We tend to visit each other several times a year, and doing so we may exchange ideas. They've been here, and we've been there. We do ask each other how are you doing that, and just sometimes go over to provide feedback.'

Sony's Worldwide Studios benefit from the help of several dedicated teams, including the Ice Team that works out of Naughty Dog's Los Angeles offices and XDEV, which is based in Liverpool - although Sony's studios all operate independently, and often employ their own technology.

'There are very low-level bits of rendering code that we can take and put in our engine,' explained Moss. 'Ice code is in the Naughty Dog engine, for example. But if we need to explain how our player code works, for instance - that's much more of a spiderweb. The way that Nathan Drake runs around the world - I know how it's done, but it's diametrically opposed to how God of War works.' " - (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-15-santa-monica-studios-clarifies-its-involvement-with-the-last-guardian)
But in the same article, it's noted that their involvement never reached beyond that:
Spoiler
'I'm never really sure how that got in the press, because as far as I'm aware we're not helping out with The Last Guardian,' director of technology at Santa Monica Studio Tim Moss told Eurogamer. 'The only way you can say that is the knowledge that we contribute back to the central tech groups benefits The Last Guardian. So I'm guessing someone was slightly misquoted.'
And the last piece of information, where Ueda confirms without any "vagueness" that the game remains under his "creative supervision":
Spoiler
" 'As some of you may have heard, I left Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio some time ago to pursue my creative passions," he wrote. "Nevertheless, I continue working on The Last Guardian as a freelance contributor. While it’s been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team.' " - (http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/13/the-last-guardian-remains-under-my-creative-supervision-says-fumito-ueda/)

Yes, that was a lot of running around just to say "nah, that's not the story." But I have followed TLG REALLY closely since 2010 and I don't like misinformation. Sony is a business, and I doubt that they really give two shits about their consumers outside of their money. Sony is also really greedy, especially in their movie department, and we've seen plenty of games ruined because of Sony not understanding what they're doing. But this isn't Sony, it's still Ueda and Team ICO. It's not going to be the best game ever, but I expect it to be in lines with SotC and ICO.

I'm not hyped for it, and my expectations are reasonable. I'm interested, but that's all.

Posting an update doesn't mean I'm hyping it up at all.
