Y'know, where she clearly had her own thoughts and emotions, her own personality, she could even feel pain when the Gravemind showed it to her, she could form empathic connections with others and have those connections manipulated...Now, if you mean she was never organic, yeah, that's obviously true. But she was definitely presented as being 'alive' in every sense that matters.
