NK was here. Everything I post is dead serious, no jokes.
I came here from b.net after a few Floods invited me. None of them post on either b.net nor here anymore, which is sad. I was still active on b.net until for some bizarre reason, b.net admins locked out people who have not played Destiny. Even if you wanted to post on the offtopic section. After that, I fully moved here and have not returned to b.net since.
What the fuck were they thinking? They Trump'd up.

Funny thing is, it apparently doesnt even allow online play and can only change textures

Plus, Rockstar have explicitly allowed and promoted it before, so it sounds like it's T2 being dicks.

Wouldn't surprise me if they've seen what Bethesda's doing with paid mods and want to get a piece of that pie.

Why the dislikes? Unless it blocks all existing mod tools and forces everyone to use their one, I think a dev making their own community modding tools is a great move.

Rockstar is capable of running their own studio I'm sure. Why don't they go independent ?

Problem is the type of content they're charging for. Nobody wants to pay for shit like horse armor and generic armor/weapon/house mods that there is already a massive abundance of. If Content Club was reserved strictly for big mods like Falskaar, and extremely well done companions like Inigo, then none of this would be an issue.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!

It's getting dislikes because Bethesda wants to profit even more off of a 6 year old game and Fallout 4 which wasn't that well received and profit off of people who spend their time creating mods. They would rather give their community the middle finger instead of making a new a completely new Elder Scrolls game that people have been asking for since Skyrim began to grow old. Paid mods is basically microtransactions for offline single-player games which is an obvious cash grab.

Take Two removing modding for GTA 5 single-player is another prime example of cash grabbing. Take Two can't make money off of people who play the single-player and would rather have them play GTA Online and spend their money to buy in-game money for anyone stupid enough to do it. Take Two made hundreds of millions of dollars last year on microtransactions alone, have one of the most successful games of all time with nearly 60 million copies sold, and that still isn't enough.

I don't even have a problem with Creation Club in theory, but in practice it's fucking awful because they're selling shit like horse armor that nobody in their right mind wants to pay for in a single player game. As I said in my other post, none of this would be an issue if it was reserved for expansion sized mods, long and well written questlines, and well voice acted companions with loads of dialogue. Also, if they're going the whole "Outsourced DLC" route, then all content should adhere to strict lore standards and be recognized as fully canon within the game world. This would be a good way to differentiate it from just being "Paid Mods."

Cool.
If modding tools can be banned, so can video editors and capture cards that allow capturing gameplay. Afterall, its all part of the game that someone else comes along and 'steals'.

What I'm getting at is that modding is part of fair use.

You did that in OpenIV with no additional tools?

Yeah, just changed the textures and boom, for some reason the sexy go-kart didn't work in singleplayer but worked perfectly for multiplayer

there is no legal precedent for this. modding is actually a legal grey area because neither consumers or corporations really want to have a court battle over it

Oh god he's engaged, Verb in a thread about mods. Everybody take cover!
I remember Verb saying he either disagrees with or is against the popular opinion due to it being wrong for the majority of the time and we know he hates the PC for gaming, could those two reasons be the real reason why he is against mods? Modding is popular so therefor he's going to be against it due to that reason and it's mainly done on the PC which he hates for gaming as well. I know he has that art reason as well, but to me when you bring in those two reasons I listed, it seems like they would be standing out the most when you think about it.

If FromSoftware took it upon themselves to DMCA my Dark Souls videos from my channel, I wouldn't complain. That's their right, in my opinion.
