the resource management, upgrading units, watching all my plans come to fruition

i used to hate how slow things can be, but i dunno--i think it adds a lot of build-up and excitement now

idk, something just kinda clicked tonight

Me and my friends get together about once a month for Supreme Commander Forged Alliance. I highly recommend it, here's a gameplay montage on just how insane games can get.

We'll spend about five hours in a game. We know we're reaching the beginning of the end when the announcer goes "Strategic launch detected", about five minutes later nukes are flying all over the sky.

Or Total War if you want a mixture of turn based/Real time, but I don't think that counts

Homeworld is definitely a game like that I enjoy

It's quite challenging though

command and conquer seems up my alley

i've had nice things to say about civ because it's a TBS and i like TBS games, but i haven't played it

Never was a big fan of RTS, but I played quite a bit of the Age of... series and Total War when I was younger. They're nothing too competitive usually, but still fun.

Civ V if you're not looking for anything heavy.

Otherwise: Medieval II: Total War; Europa Universalis IV, Endless Space, Endless Legend and Stellaris.
