So. Do you see EA shutting down Visceral in the near future?

EA has had a cycle going over the past few years. Danger Close was responsible for making MoH, several CoC games, and of course the two Medal of Honor reboots. After Warfighter became the massive flop that it was, EA later shut them down. Mythic had a history of great games, until EA made them produce that horrid Dungeon Keeper Mobile. EA later shut them down.

Now the latest victim was Maxis, you know the guys who gave us the old Sim Cities and Sims games? It seems after the latest Sim City flopped hard, and after the subsidy of Maxis produced that bare bones Sims, they were promptly shut down.

Its a cycle of EA to buy out a dev, bleed them absolutely dry and then when they are given a project that will flop; they get the big axe.

Now, next week Visceral will release Battlefield Hardline. They have had a great history with Dead Space until EA stepped in with Dead Space 3 and all of its bull shit, and then they had them make that last Army of Two Devils Cartel which also flopped...

Now with Hardline, if this game flops harder than a dead fish--do you think EA will drive that final nail into the coffin and bury them alive?

I could see it happening. I could also see several Visceral employees starting up another company and producing something that's actually good once again.

I dunno why you guys are demanding a new Dead Space. Part of what made the first two games great was the mystery behind it and all that. Then DS3 came in and had the Resident Evil 5 effect where it was almost all action.

Let those guys make a new IP and keep it like the original 2 were.

If hardline flops, yeah they'll probably get chopped up and put on the pile of corpses in EA's shed.

I don't know why people still partner with them, since it's pretty much making a deal with the devil even if they have turned things around a *tiny* bit lately.

If you folks didn't already hear it Dead Space was essentially canned after 3. They won't be making 4 anytime soon.

3 was the best of em, it had more focus on the characters/story and the gameplay was perfect.
If you played the games because they were horror then you probably should rethink how you approach games.

Dead Space is supposed to be horror, just like how Mass Effect is supposed to be an RPG.
They're not supposed to be full on action games with small remnants of what they used to be..

That is true in the case of DS3. It was a case where its environments outshines the story it was trying to portray. The gameplay was great, but the overall creepy atmosphere was slipping away partly thanks to the constant monster closets.

A big factor to it not being scary at all is because it doesn't even attempt to be scary. It's just cheap jump scares that become tiresome after the first few.

DS3 is about as much of a horror game as how much of an RPG ME3 is.
Also note that both are EA titles and both become action shooters as the franchise progressed.
