Within a certain range they should be an autokill against enemy players.
That's where I leave that argument.

I believe that at this point, if a game didn't have a "vidya shotgun" then everyone would call it unrealistic.

Since when were shotguns in Halo OP?! :$

CE's was the most powerful and yet it was balanced out by the other equally effective weapons in the sandbox.

Halo 2's couldn't do sh1t next to the energy sword.

Halo 3's couldn't do sh1t next to a can of paint.

Reach's was cool, but not really overpowered aside from Infection but I think the balancing issues came more from the map design than the weapon itself.

And 4's was the same-ish only POD usually gave you better options for the usually gargantuan maps the game shipped with.

Now Gears of War on the other hand...[/url]

My argument for shotguns is close range autokills only.

Oh my god the USAS-12 with Frag Rounds. You could almost turn off the Sun with that thing:
