There seems to be a bar under the shield meter. It goes down after the guy uses his thruster pack. I would assume this is a bar for Spartan Abilities, yet it doesn't deplete when it someone is sprinting. What do you guys think?

Why not? According to 343, it's something every Spartan can do like high-jacking. Sprint should be counted as a Spartan ability I think.

Because sprinting is something everyone can do.
Plus it wasn't an ability in Halo 4.

Spartan Abilities =/= Armor Abilities

They seem to be something everyone spawns with and can use on demand. My guess now is that this this is meter is just for Thruster Pack. Since according to 343, Master Chief has always has a built in Thruster Pack since Halo 1, but never used it, it could make sense for them to count it as a Spartan Ability. Everyone will spawn with it.

So, assuming spartan abilities are pretty much mechanics (not part of loadouts- everybody spawns with them), I'm thinking they don't count sprint just because you would use it a lot and if it depleted the bar then you wouldn't be able to use the other abilities much.

as long as there are no loadouts/classes it'll be fine (unless the abilities are retardedly poorly balanced.)

i just really, really hope they mean what they're saying about h5 being an arena fps game. i don't want another arena/class hybrid like reach.

Sprint=not fine. Not fine at all.
sprint was implemented poorly in reach and h4. the devs (especially bungie in reach) had no idea how to balance the maps around sprint. sprint isnt necessarily a bad thing as long as the maps are designed to flow well with the increased movement speed. that being said, i would much rather we remove all "abilities" and keep it h1-3 style- but, if we have to have sprint, it isn't the end of the world.

Please no. Halo is a different ball game with it comes to shooters that have utilized sprint well.
It's basically a 'get out of jail free' card for players who make bad decisions. You shouldn't be able to just easily run away from a battle you're losing. The kill times in halo are too long for sprint and I don't think it works well at all for arena style gameplay.

If only it was that black and white. Just aim good and win no matter what. . .

If only things like netcode, ping, shot registration, bullet spread, kill times, map flow, and diverse gameplay elements didn't exist to grey up that perfect crispy black and white yin yang 'you either aim good and kill or you don't.'
