the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.

Then there's Halo 3 which has hardly any campaign focus.

After Halo 2 they stopped trying with the campaign.

Then there's Halo 3 which has barly any campaign focus.

...a game that has hardly any campaign focus to it.

With Halo 3 they forgot people play the campaign.

Yeah, see, that's the thing. Halo's story was never the main focus of the game. The campaign is expected to be there, but it's not nearly as significant as the multiplayer, which is what Halo revolves around. Most players only go through it once or twice, then move on to the meat of the game, the portion that keeps them coming back.

No game developer can sell their game to all types of players, but they can sell it to the largest type - which gives them more incentive to put more time and effort into the multiplayer and not the campaign that most will only go through once. Halo 4's piss-poor gameplay is what happens when they put all their money into the story (which I didn't think was that good anyway).

Halo 5 multiplayer isn't as bad as people are making it out to be (especially since it's well, y'know, a beta) and 343 still has a few long months ahead of them to sort out any problems and patch up the important stuff before release.  I actually like the stuff they're doing, even though one of my gripes so far is that I can shoot somebody first (sometimes even fire off a second round before they have a chance to react) and even if we have the same weapon I end up getting killed.

H5's multiplayer seems to be going in the right direction, at least for me, compared to H4's.  It just needs some polishing up and it could be something great.

I just don't like Halo 5. I don't like spartan charging if I want to tackle assassinate. I don't like my frat boy Spartans talking to me every time I do anything. I particularly don't like watching them act like their highschool football team just won homecoming at the end of every match. I don't like the map "remixes" and all these damn "soul" successors". I don't like that my plasma grenades explode in my face when getting sprayed by an SMG, and even if it doesn't, it arcs too slowly and the non-stick explosion is pitiful. I don't like hovering in mid-air like some death-dealing butterfly. I dislike the spartan models more so than Halo 4's.

I do not like Call of Duty in space. I do however want to play Halo 5's story, and then never play the multiplayer. I have MCC, and as far as I'm concerned, the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is not an Indiana Jones movie.

Two makes there more than speakers.
I'm going to try to keep things short, but I may just ramble on at some point.

Halo 5 is a fun game (as of now). It kept me interested a lot longer than any other usual game, but not as long as I'd hope. Trying to adopt the more popular features just end up with the game tripping over itself. It wants to be an Arena shooter, yet tries to include modern shooter mechanics. Which more often than not, hinder the arena experience. There were some features that helped Halo move a step forward, but also some that made it take two steps back.

After seeing how Reach and 4 fared, I was hoping that 343i would come to realize that just in general these features aren't wanted as much as they used to be. If people wanted a modern shooter they wouldn't look at Halo, they would look elsewhere. I'm certain that this is more than likely as to why Halo 4 had it's community drop so quickly; because it's the game people didn't expect it to be.

You can say that I have my "nostalgia goggles on," but the early yet simple days of Halo were among the best years of it's time. They had an appeal to a wide variety of communities, not just a few.

TL;DR: Games (including Halo) are becoming too similar. People are heading off to the one that does that the best (not Halo).

There really is a nostalgic factor that twists what the OG trilogy actually was. When Halo 2 launched, it was globally hated by Gaylo fans. There was even a website I believe called Halo2sucks.com. Halo 3 wasn't quite as hated but still, it was different so people hated it. I'm not saying Halo 1-3 weren't great games, they are. But they're just that, great games. They are not masterpieces that must be the inspiration for all sci-fi and/or shooter games.

H5 is a new game by a new company, it must be different. You can't repeat the same game for 20+ years. Look at Mario, he made the switch to 3D back on the N64. That was a HUGE change and since then, Mario has gone to motha fuckin space. 30 years later in this fuckin Italian plumber is still relevant and still in fun games. Change is welcome if its good change. And good change is what keeps a game relevant. Copy and pasting will only slowly lead to the death of a series. Just look at what is happening to Cod. It is dwindling in online population and its losing hype.

H5 is most certainly good change but you can't appreciate good change if you don't want it.

Except there wasn't as many mediums to voice criticism back then as there was now, so someone making a website to makes sense when there was no youtube or other forums/sites to discuss it.  Their populations also grew from game to game so more hate correlates with a rising community.  After Post Halo 3 population has been decreasing and people aren't playing as long.

Well 343 was created for the sole purpose of continuing said franchise. If they wanted to create a completely new game they should have made a new IP.

Mario is a lot different than Halo.  It really has no story and people aren't going to pay for exactly the same game released yearly.  Scenary has to change because Mario really has no established story.  No game continues off the story of the last, almost like each one is a different multiverse version.

And the community has explained thoroughly why sprint is bad but 343i ignores it because "people expect it there".

That's mostly due to the fact that they simply over did it.  There's been a yearly COD for like 8 years and the only innovation was spec ops and zombies, of course it got stale, plus so many modern shooters copied it that they all looked familar.  A main Halo fps releasing every 3-4 years doesn't over saturate the market.

Correct. Halo hasn't changed enough and hasn't changed in a positive way which is why it is starting to become irrelevant.

It's a step above Halo 4 for sure, in terms of aesthetics and gameplay. Sprint is an issue. I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets infuriated when an enemy sprints and turns a corner once you have stripped their shields. Maybe if you're not able to sprint while your shields are down; I always thrust away. But then that would negate the whole purpose of the current system that won't recharge your shields if you sprint.

I find myself forgetting that I even have these new Spartan abilities during a match, or I can't find an opportune time to use them. Most of the time I find my self playing traditional Halo with the thrusters and sprint. Slide seems useless, I have yet to see anyone use it. Ground-pound doesn't seem worth the risk it takes to use it, along with Spartan charge. I'm more interested in campaign anyways. What I think Halo 5 also needs is something other than our standard arena gameplay; lets have 16 vs 16 on massive maps (if it works). While I'm playing Halo 5 it does remind me of playing Crysis 2 in a lot of ways. I also want a return of Camo and Overshield pickups.

Sequels don't have to drastically change the core gameplay to be fun.  Adopting "mainstream" features isn't innovation either.

It's the same with me. For the early access I was playing it and now I can't last more than a minute. After the first time dying I just jumped onto Shadow of Mordor. I like the gameplay but it feels to damn slow.

I wouldn't say that it feels slow, even though I had plenty of times wandering maps running into nobody then suddenly find the entire enemy team. There was just nothing that interesting or fun that made me want to keep playing it, and I haven't played Halo online in months, so I'm sure not worn out of it.

Slow is probably a bad word to use. The combat itself is pretty fast it's pretty much what you said. A lot of the time I'm searching for someone and when I do find someone I usually get double teamed. Until there's something for BTB I don't see myself playing the beta or the game outside customs and BTB. The 4V4 playlist just offers nothing of interest.

Why do you ask what? When the delicious question is when. The only difference between past and present. Is semantics. Lives, lived, will live. Dies, died, will die. If we could perceive time as it really was. What reason would grammar professors have to get out of bed?
Thank sprint.

I don't see how sprint has anything to do with that, if anything it's the fact that the enemy team is coordinated and you are not.

Sprint stretches maps making them bigger.  There was no problem finding people on the Halo 2 and 3 midship but on Truth it can actually take 20+ seconds to find someone.  Sprint also removes the punishment of death by allowing the person to sprint, thrust, and clamber to come back to where they died faster than previous Halo's, even with stretched maps.  Running away is far more prevelant in Halo's with sprint.

On Halo 5?  Cause that was the point I was making.  Sprint influences map design and maps are stretched out because of it.

Reach maps were designed for sprint and all armor abilities so that doesn't help the argument.  It depends what maps you played on Halo 3.  On the small maps I don't really believe you couldn't find one of 4 people unless they were purposely hiding or your team had a sick spawn kill down.  Medium-large maps it can be understandable to an extent, seeing as they were designed for more players.  Midship and Truth play completely different though.

The campaign is still an important focus, just campaign gameplay isn't as crucial.
