Urmmm
I'm back to playing Yellow on the VC after a long spurt of gen 6 madness, and boy does it feel like a whole different beast. I have a mental list of things I've noticed that I'm glad they changed, but there's probably stuff that was actually better.-Pokeballs actually missing the Pokemon when thrown. WTH? I was trying to catch Chansey in Safari and about 5 balls in a row all missed!-Having to manually change PC boxes, so that you wouldn't be told that you are unable to catch a Pokemon because the box is full. Seriously, so much frustration from this!-Having to select HMs manually. Okay just a minor one this, but still.-Do the badges ACTUALLY change your stats?-Weird selection of TMs. I can't remember all of them from my playthrough but a few of them had me scratching my head.-On route 21 there's a swimmer trainer that's... actually a Cue Ball! Is Gen 1 the only gen to feature a swimming trainer that isn't actually a swimmer class? That's just a few of mine, playing Gen 1 after the others feels... weird. In a weird way, heh.Do you miss any of the early or odd design choices from Gen 1?

In a weird way, heh.Do you miss any of the early or odd design choices from Gen 1?Thank god the bag no longer works like it does in Gen 1.But no the badges don't change your stats, but like in all games (As far as i'm aware of) Badges serve to prevent twinking in that over-leveled traded Pokemon have a high chance of strait up ignoring you without the proper badge. In one playthrough I did of Pearl where an ingame traded chattot grew so fast that it outleveled my currernt badge and screwed me over plenty.
But the gym leaders tell me the badges raise statsDO THEY LIE
Stat boostIn Generations I-III, some Badges boost a certain stat or stats of the player's Pokémon. This boost is applied only in internal battles, not link battles. In Generations I and II, the stat or stats are increased by 12.5%; in Generation III, the stat or stats are increased by 10%. This boost does not exist from Generation IV onward. In Generation I, this boost is reapplied whenever the player's Pokémon's stats are raised or lowered, allowing boosts to be stacked (this stacking effect is lost if the Pokémon levels up). In Generation II, if the attack is a critical hit and the attacker's used offensive stat stage is less than or equal to the opponent's defensive stat stage, all Badge boosts are ignored.
