What's some things that annoy the shit out of you in video games, regardless of what setting/genre it is?

For me? It'd be having a whiny fucking protagonist for a character. I've been trying to beat Tales of Zestiria lately and OH MY GOD the main character Sorey is such a fucking pussy. I'll spare you the details and just sum it in to this

"We can't kill anyone! We have to save them!"

Yeah, let your imagination wander with that and you have it. Doesn't help his voice is raspy, which annoys me. Raspy voices annoy me. Fuck you, Sorey.

death spells in JRPGs are the only reason why i don't play JRPGs as often as i should

oh you like strategy and nuance in your video games huh well guess what kiddo i have a move that can just instagib your entire fucking party with one RNG-based attack that you have absolutely no way of stopping haha isn't this fun

this is actually more than a pet peeve for me, but i'm the only person i know who has such a low tolerance for this shit

Input lag, clunky control scheme, high ping in multiplayer, low frame rate, sometimes camera. But I usually play nipponese hentai games, so didn`t encounter those there. Oh yeah, and when game devs make big empty world and think I'll play their game just because it`s big

I hate when I aim down and can't see my character's legs in FPS games. Drives me insane.

Enemy AIs that have laser-pinpoint accuracy that can kill you in a few shots and always know your location no matter what. This is not how you balance a game.

Cover systems in third-person games that your character is attracted to like glue. This happened a lot in Mass Effect 3, mostly multiplayer. I wanted to dodge enemy fire by rolling/sprinting but my character will jump into the nearest cover instead when I clearly did not intended to.

Progression systems that are based on how long somebody plays the game rather than a progression system based on match wins and individual skill.

If you know, you know.
When aiming down sights makes you a sniper and when shooting from the hip the shots have an RNG hit or miss.
Unskippable cutscenes
Over 3 logos at startup
Multiplayer achievements but the game is dead
Death barriers literally 2 meters to either side of the path the game wants you to follow (COD especially loves this shit)

-The hug weapons in JRPG's.

-The pointless female clothing in JRPG's.

-Your clothing staying default in JRPG's despite having something else equipped.

-Being forced to play as a human in RPG's when there's multiple alien and other races in the series. For example KoTOR, Mass Effect and Fallout.

-Friendly AI being completely useless.

-The higher the difficultly, the more health the enemy has and the more damage they do. You on the other hand would be doing far less damage despite using the same weapon.

-All we had to do was follow the damn train, CJ!

Completely half-assed research on historical time periods
Games that tell you you can play however you like, but then penalize you when you don't play in a specific fashion.

-Online trophies for games that have the multiplayer servers switched off, making the platinum impossible. I wouldn't mind multiplayer trophies if they patched it to make the online trophies unessential.

-Being forced to walk slowly while your character follows or talks to somebody. The Arkham games were terrible for this, why can't Batman talk to people in his earpiece while still being able to sprint? They're like cutscenes except you can't skip them and you're forced to play, if you're following an NPC around.

-Unskippable cutscenes. I'm okay with them being unskippable on your first attempt, but I think all games should have the feature to skip them on repeated attempts. I really wish FFX HD had this.

-As Verb said, insta-death spells can go suck a fuck.

-Sequences where you're trying to do something like opening a door or pulling a switch, while infinitely respawning enemies attack and interrupt you.

-Turret sections. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a turret section.

-Stealth sections in games that aren't stealth orientated. You get thrown into this mission suddenly, where it's really easy to fuck up and have to restart because up until now the game hasn't required it, and you haven't had time to get to grips with it.

-Adding in a dumb twist to an already convoluted and finished plot that just somehow makes it even dumber.

the god damn level 1 quest where all you're doing is killing rodents in a sewer/basement/field, hate the troupe, and all rpgs just need to stop with that shit, make the level 1 enemies original for christ's sake.

1 shotting Bullet sponges as "difficulty" instead of upping the enemy's AI to be smarter.

Hitboxes larger than the animations (Looking at you LoL, fuck blitzcrank)

Stealth sections where there's no actual stealth mechanics in the game.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
QTE "help the useless NPC" parts in missions.

"Quick, help lift this garage door!"
"Help, a monster got me and I can't fight them off myself"
"Help, I've fallen and can't get up"
*tap tap tap tap/mash button combo*

Combine this with terrible AI, indicators and sounds that coat the screen telling you to fix them, and failure to do so means failing the mission... well, fuck you, Sheva. Gears of War, Last of Us, etc, etc.

Undertale had some actual substance behind it though with the multiple save thing, along with the decision to go a variety of pure, and evil.

This game, being a JRPG, forces its ideals and most GENERIC OF PLOTS down your fucking throat, even when killing someone makes the logical sense. Like there is even a character in the game who kills for you so "you won't have to". It's the most cookie cutter pure paragon bullshit I have seen in a long while, and the characters persistent smiling fucking default face makes me want to punch him in the god damn face.
