How does it look?  He wants one around $1000, not including the peripherals.

Ignore the overpriced case and keyboard.  That's his choice, not mine.
I'm about to tell him to buy the mobo (which I'm thinking I could find something a bit cheaper) and the CPU within the next week.

The flashy case and keyboard are a necessity to my friends.

See you Cowgirl,
Someday, somewhere
Awful gpu, you need a Intel Graphics 3000 to run most games on ultra at 4k60fps

What you need is a guy named KJ who knows wtf he's doing. That stuff looks awful tbh.

It's someone I know who's a computer mogul. He could easily assemble the best PC's on whatever price range.

Not including the peripherals: keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, anything that isn't part of the actual computer tower. He also has his OS taken care of.
So take out that expensive keyboard, and the price on that build is $1030.  He also already bought the case months ago.

Wut.

Alright.  I mean, I have built PCs before; I'm just looking for some outside opinions.  What about that build is so awful, aside from the overpriced case and keyboard that he wants?

The case I can understand, more than most tbh. (My case is beyond sexy :P)

To be honest, a 2 GB 960 isn't going to get you very far.  Most newer games are starting to demand 3-4 GB of VRAM from the user.  Of course, you're not going to find a 4 GB GPU for under $200.

You can get better keyboards like that for like $50!

^That would be better imo. More hard drive space and a better gpu, for about the same price

EDIT: (Swap out the 1x8 ram for a 2x4)
