Why do people complain about games getting delayed?

If games get delayed, then people just complain the developer is incompetant because they want more time to make a better game.

There are times where arbitrary pushbacks are just plain annoying, especially after two or three broken promises on a release date.

More polish is always a good thing. My problem with delays is that even with that extra time the final product turns out to be garbage *cough*Watch_Dogs*cough*.

imo, it shows a lack of time management which causes me to look at the released game with more scrutiny. cause if they're rushed because they've already pasted one deadline then the finished product might have cut corners.

I'll complain if a game's being delayed multiple times because then you kinda start to lose faith in them, but having it set back so it can be further polished/finished isn't bad at all

Or they're upset not at the decision to delay the game but at the fact the game wasn't finished on time.

The last big game I remember that got delayed was Watch Dogs, and while it didn't exactly turn out... *ahem* "great", people weren't upset at that at all.

I think most gamers are smart enough to understand the tendencies that have happened these past... idk, we'll say 7 years, and wish for a better and more complete product.

On a spin off thought, the problem is Publishers and management treat video games like they do movies. If it maintains the status quo, the gaming industry will collapse on itself. There is this whole study on it, I'm too lazy to even say anything on it aside from the buzz topic.

The main thoughts I get from my friends is acceptance that it will (hopefully) make the game better.
If it needs to be delayed, then it needs to be delayed y'know?
