Also the bigger presence of melee, the different classes of tanks, absence of attack boats/ helicopters/ rpgs/ assault rifles/ LAVs and stuff like horses, artillery, battleships, airships, larger presence of bolt-action rifles and chemical warfare make it hard to just do a reskin
They've been working on it for 3 years. It's not a year after release, so no it's not a reskin.

It'll be hard to do a paintjob of a modern shooter in a WW1 setting.

Aircraft for example will function completely differently due to their lack of lock on missiles and AA will have to be done via flak emplacements. Two seater planes have already been confirmed as back gunners are present meaning that you'll have to rely on your teammates to be your counter measure.
So....a paint job? A plane's a plane.
A plane from the 1900's functions different than a plane in the 2000's.

No kidding!               🅱
Incomplete painted shit with overpriced shit droplets

Theyre gonna have to come up with lots of gadgets and such to make such a bland setting good

Nothing short of a new engine can fix the current terrible engine and floaty gameplay though, unless they go back to 1.5

that too

But I more meant that the sheer amount of changes fundamentally change how the game plays

I'm really excited to see gameplay of this now. Hopefully the open beta will leave good impressions, too. Here's hoping Rush becomes the central mode of the game and they design the maps around it.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.

Not really.

I don't think Battlefield 3 was a reskin of Bad Company or 2. When they actually have more than a year to develop, they actually, ya know, do different things.

I mean, neither was 1943 but apparently BF is just re-skins

After Bad Company 2

Yeah, im a liiiiittle cynical but theres hardly any real gameplay of it apart from a few seconds so maybe ill be pleasantly surprised.

I think people are just happy it's not another modern/future shooter. We've had SO much since 2007 and people are just sick of them. WW1 has never really been done. You can't really blame them for being excited.

3 and BC2 were a lot different, yeah.

There was only three types of sight for every gun; Reflex, ACOG 4x and 8x sniper. No DMRs, only bolt action rifles, and no ridiculous customisation options like in 4. Each class only had a handful of weapons to unlock and I'm pretty sure unlocking a weapon attachment for the assault class unlocked it for every weapon in that class rather than just the one gun.

Also, snipers got airstrikes/ mortar/ artillery (Whatever it was i can't remember), there were no scout helis or attack/ scout jets, no lock-on launchers and snipers got ghillie suits (I miss playing as a wookie). The destruction was also a lot more prominent than either of the subsequent games and LMG guys got medical bags and AR guys got ammo bags. Also the UAV on the map that only kind of returned in BF4 Final Stand in a shittier form. I miss everyone on the team dogpiling those things to try and get it.

I haven't played in a long time, that's just what I remember. But it was a lot of stuff.

Eh... I don't know if I'd say that. I mean yeah, it's not a literal reskin, but it did start the trend that 3 and 4 went down gameplay wise.

I'm honestly not sure why insane amounts of customization that always boils down to everything other than 5 weapons and two or three attachments for each that are actually viable seems to be in heavy demand right now. Battlefield 2 remains the best game in the series to date and all it had was an alternate unlockable primary weapon for each class.

While I think 4 goes a bit overboard in that department, it generally provides something to strive for. I've spent a lot of time in BF4 going for weapon mastery of every weapon (Except snipers. Fuck those) because it always provides a new challenge/ goal to look for.

4 did it way too much (I mean, you could probably have three sniper rifles and you'd have all the major differences you can get), but the variety in sights is particularly nice to suit weapon to play style and whatnot.

Core to you seems to mean that it shares the same genre when it comes to shooters at least.

no

Maybe it's because sniping is my laifu, but they each have very distinct characteristics barring one.

CSLR4 - Easy 100m sniping (there is a reason why it's the intro rifle)
Scout Elite - Doubletapping at short-mid range, if you aren't a headshotter then it's for you
M40a5 - Rapid headshot chaining at mid
.338 recon - running and gunning at short-mid
L96 - solid midrange rifle with the bonus of firing two shots in a steadied breath*
FYJS - max agility countersniper rifle
M98baller - Extreme range countersniper or bipod support rifle
SRR-61 - trickshotter trashgun
CS5 - suppressed with no penalty (within a certain range)
SV-98 - ironsighting or free equivalent of the L96
SR338 - dmr hybrid but shit because of spread

only clone rifle is the
Jng-90 - M98baller but for turkroaches

*forgot the asterisk
this might be down to the squad perk or have been removed but I remember playing with it doing this for a long ass time.

Do something with the movement. WW1 was muddy, make it organic so it feels muddy.

Do something with the art style, or rather add one because realism is dull <.<

Take some liberties with the setting, dont ground it so much.

oh

I really hate sniping in battlefield (I'm not good or patient enough to fuck around with drop and travel times) so to me it's pretty much M40, M98B and the semi auto one.

I only ever use recon with carbines so I can have the radio beacon and stuff. I prefer to be more front lines/ support than a coward in the back.

I don't think you quite understand why people play battlefield - or call of duty for that matter.

The setting itself offers a bunch of mechanical changes that will shake up the way battlefield has been played since BC2 due to the lack of conveniences modern technology creates. A greater emphasis on skill and teamwork has already been demonstrated with multiseat aircraft for example and the talk of tanks that need to be crewed by a full squad to reach their optimal combat ability means that you'll no longer be able to one man army with a tank.

This isn't even getting into how the playstyle will be shaken up due to time period sensitive sandbox that places an increased importance on bolt shot and semi-automatic weaponry over fully automatic ones. Then you've got other things in the time period such as melee combat and horseback cavalry charges still being prevalent, both of which have been confirmed for the game.

The movement as it is is fine other than the sometimes buggy mess that vaulting induces.
