It has a better story than the full game lol.

It makes a ton of references to Peace Walker, so if you don't watch the youtube movie on that or something, you'll be lost.

In terms of gameplay, it is arguably one of the best stealth games around. Just be careful, deliberate, and if you get spotted, running away helps.

There is almost always more than one path too. Last tip would aim in fps when shooting stealthy. Way more accurate and reliable.

If you're new to mgs, you'll miss some stuff in this, but nothing insane. Still, maybe ready a sinopsis or watch the youtube movies of MGS and Peacewalker to get a full view of it.

It's a stealth game first, a third-person shooter second.

Don't worry about beating Far Cry 4 first, it will only take about an hour to beat Ground Zeroes.

When I started playing I thought the stuff I was doing was only the first mission and I'd be sent to another location afterwards but it ended up being the entire game.

It's a nice prologue to the events that lead to the Phantom Pain. Most of the fun comes from the different approach you will take into completing the main mission. The stealthy one, or the Rambo-esque one are both legitimate strategies that you can attempt. The story isn't that much, it's just a short story and it works to establish the key characters roughly.

You should also listen to the tapes you will get in-game. They often come with nice discussions between the characters that add an extra depth to what's going on or just give more context to what's happening at the moment. As far a Metal Gear game is concerned, I'd suggest you to pick up the HD Collection for the 360, the more traditional MGS experience is there.

In Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain it's different, since the game isn't a sandbox, but it consists in an open world (In Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain) and the possibilities that were in the past restricted give you more freedom to use your fantasy to do something.

This might be controversial to say, but the initial cost of the title was mainly done to add more feedback, and production money for The Phantom Pain. People just forget this. Konami wanted a more traditional MGS title, and instead Kojima wanted to create an open world stealth-action game. So, Ground Zeroes was released separately to make a point to Konami that the game can sell, or at least that the players enjoy the changes that were to come down with The Phantom Pain.

I'm still waiting for Metal Gear Solid 5 to come out, all I have so far was some leaked unfinished tech demo that accidentally got released.

Maybe somebody with enough resources will be able to mod a whole story in, like Skyrim modders do. Granted, Skyrim is a different beast entirely, but...one can hope.

You serious? I was expecting like a 5 hour prologue with another 10 maybe to collect all achievements. But 1-2 hours? Damn.

Well, the main story mission can take an hour or two if you take your time. There's a few other scenarios the game describes as "pseudo-historical," with some longer than others. Any prisoners you rescue in these missions (and a few certain other NPCs) can be extracted and transferred into Phantom Pain as Mother Base staff.

All in all, my GZ play time is about 10 hours IIRC, from completing most of the missions, then a few on a harder difficulty, and going back to get any extraction targets I missed.

But yeah, it's more of a demo than anything.

Maybe if I like this one. I really don't care much about the series and only downloaded this because it was free.

The other ones play nothing like this, but alright.
