Casuals like it. Vets don't. Pretty much every person I've seen review the game that doesn't do it to make a buck (I.E. actual fans) agree that the game isn't all that great.

He was originally brunette like his brother until he got captured in the Middle East and his hair was bleached by constant exposure to the sun. That's also why he's more tan than Solid.

Yeah, that can easily be retconned I think if they DID decide to make it Liquid. Much like MGS4 with Big Boss looking different than he did now, it was a case of "we didn't think we'd get this far" I think.
