His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.

Too few devs dalay their games. Games are bigger than ever yet their three year cycle is still the standard. It's been getting longer recently but its late.

I was kinda interested after BR2049 got me in a Cyberpunk (genre) mood for a while but the way people at my uni wouldn't shut up about it made me lose interest.

I think the fact that it's based on a tabletop game is causing people to think there will be much more player choice than will be present in the game.

Reason I decided not to get this at launch.
Another is that its a AAA game which means a playable Beta at launch.
Anyone here played it yet? I hear good things about the graphics and such but bugs ruin the immersion.

So game crashed twice on me, also had a glitch where I could not advance the story because of some militech NPC blocking an access point. Enemies will sometimes spaz out on the floor without even bothering to shoot you.

The fuck was the point in all these delays then? Absolute joke.

Clearly needed more time and the delay was not for polishing up but for hardcore crunch.

This is f i n e, no matter how much would they spend time coding game, they'll never catch all bugs. It's more important now for them to listen to the feedback and patch all things quickly. I think it would be better for them to release their game earlier as an early access and receive feedback back then and I don't know what prevented them from doing so.

Why is the bar so low now that the default position is to just expect AAA games to be fixed incrementally post release? Why is it so outlandish to actually want a game to work properly on day 1? Trust me this isn't fine. I'm sick of people just brushing this off because it's CDPR. If this was an EA title reddit would be in resonance frequency.

I didn't pay 55 quid for a game that needs 25 gig patches every few weeks. I'm not asking there to be absolutely zero bugs. I just want a playable game that I paid for on the day.

Buying games six months to a year post release is not only economically beneficent but also gives you a better experience.

Yeah okay cool, but that's not even remotely my point. There's a difference between purchasing a game at its cheapest and most optimized and having an unplayable mess on the first day you purchase it. I don't understand why this is such a head scratcher to some folk.

I know, I know. I'm just saying what must be done. Consistent low release sales will hurt these sweat-shop-tier studios and will probably send a message. People keep buying on release says one thing - "we trust you." The trust is long gone however.

You probably didn't read my previous posts. I was advocating for longer dev cycles for a while now. Normalized crunches is not a sign of a healthy industry.

No one is saying the game should be seen as some system-critical product (Like autopilots or rocket software) but ffs, there should not be any bugs when all the player does is just play the game as intended. Of course software can break when millions of people are all trying to break it but there is footage of mission scripts derping out and other sections of the game that should work - fall apart.

Well, I think main argument would be that nowadays games have grown in scale, with more technology involved and it's just nigh impossible to find all bugs before launch, but the problem is that there are games that were done without notable bugs and they worked perfectly fine on launch before. Also in case of Cyberpunk, CD Project Red took a lot of time to develop it and showcase it, and when I look at Cyberpunk I remind myself about Prey 2 and it took their developers only 3 years to get to the showcase stage and even show off some gameplay.

I think another reason why nobody expects games to be bug-free day 1 is just because in recent years no major AAA company really deliver bugless game on launch, I can't really name one.

Sooo that's a third time the game shat itself on me. Even after patch 1.04.

This should have been delayed until spring.  Idk why they thought this was acceptable to release in 2020.

not that i followed it too closely at the time, but i seem to recall a similar furor over the amount of bugs with New Vegas on release, and now that game is considered one of the best in the series, if not one of the best games ever

not that games still shouldn't be great on day 1 or anything

Yeah, it'll be like No Man's Sky all over again. As long as they fix shit, it should be fine, so bugs and crashes aren't my main concern. My main concern would be more whether this game delivers gameplay wise and story wise, but from what I've seen, it's nothing special, just another videogame I won't care about and then, if I lucky, may rediscover after 5-10 years when it gets on 90% sale and I have better hardware.

game's alright, can't say much as there's still a lot left to do in it

had to scale my resolution down from 1440p to 1080p to get 50 fps on high settings; using an m.2 nvme which is great for loading textures and files

i haven't had a lot of bugs but the driving AI is pretty bad and the game has a lot less going on then what seemed advertised

was never on the hype train for this game but i dumped 14 hours into it with no real bugs, glitches, or crashes so idk what is going on with a lot of other people's pcs

Game isn't very good but I'm none-the-less enjoying it. PC version thankfully avoids a plethora of the issues people are having with the game, and most of the ones I've run into are entertaining at least. DLSS also so it looks great with a steady framerate. It will be a good game once it's finished, but it's pretty annoying how often that's the case nowadays.

That honestly kind of sucks. With so many years in development behind it too. I don't really jump on hype trains anymore, but I was hoping it'd at least live up in part so that maybe I could pick up long after release date and then ponder why I didn't pick up such a good game sooner.

Finished the game, would probably give it a 7.5-8/10 as it is. Really good story, quest design and combat but the skill trees could use a bit of tuning and the AI needs to be fixed.

By the time they release the complete edition (like witcher 3) it'll be in that place, I think.

the AI needs to be fixed.
Absolutely the most inexcusable part of the game. I am floored by how dumb the AI is.

Annoying thing is the scripting for a lot of the AI has been found in the game files being unused at the moment. Game definitely wasn't ready, we'll probably see a situation like The Witcher where things had to be improved over the course of the next year.
