Mass Effect 1 had the best story but shit gameplay.
Mass Effect 2 had decent story and gameplay and the best character stuff. And the suicide mission.
Mass Effect 3 had the worst story and the best gameplay.

Maybe it's because I haven't playe 2 or 3 yet but I don't see what's so horrible about the gunplay.

You don't need to play 2 or 3 to know that the gameplay is awful.

It's slow and clunky. The aiming is horrendous. The framerate issues just makes it worse.
