Totally not Copying Verb Edition

So anyway yeah, I've been interested in playing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for a long time but it doesn't run on Windows 10, so I never got round to it. Anyway, now that it's available as an OG Xbox BAckwards Compatible title on Xbox One, I've decided to do a playthrough. My only real experience with BioWare games is the Mass Effect Trilogy, with the first one being my favourite, and I'm told that ME1 borrowed very heavily from Knights of the Old Republic in its structure. That, with the endless praise the two games get online, has given me high expectations on what to expect (though I'm pretty in the dark about the actual story of the game, surprisingly).

In the grand tradition of copying Verbatim's playthrough threads, I'll try to post updates whenever I play. I'll detail my character in the OP too.

Part One - Knights of the Old Republic
Quote

Four thousand years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Republic verges on collapse. DARTH MALAK, last surviving apprentice of the Dark Lord Revan, has unleashed an invincible Sith armada upon an unsuspecting galaxy.

Crushing all resistance, Malak's war of conquest has left the Jedi Order scattered and vulnerable as countless Knights fall in battle, and many more swear allegiance to the new Sith Master.

In the skies above the Outer Rim world of Taris, a Jedi battle fleet engages the forces of Darth Malak in a desperate effort to halt the Sith's galactic domination....

Ok so the game begins with a space battle. The ship my character is on is being ambushed by a Sith battle fleet, and I've been woken up by a dude called Trask Ulgo. Apparently we have to find a woman named Bastila, the CO on the "Endar Spire". Then Trask speaks to me as he tells me how to use the controller, which is a... strange method of tutorial.

Anyway, first things first is to gear up. My locker has a Stealth Field Generator, Blaster Rifle, a Sword, some basic clothes, two medical packs and Adrenal Stamina alongside some XP. I then head out with Trask to go protect Bastila from boarding parties. Shortly after exiting the room, we're sent a message by Carth Onasi - one of the republic's best Pilots. Apparently things are really going down the shitter.

Exiting into the next hallway, we stumble across two Sith troops killing a Republic soldier in a pretty hilarious firefight. However, they're both pretty swiftly dispatched. The next room also contains some more who are also killed quickly. In some crates, I also find some combat armour and fragmentation grenades.

The next room proceeds largely without note, until I encounter two people duelling with lightsabers - one of Bastila's friends and a Dark Jedi. Ultimately, they both die. Continuing to the bridge, I'm told to equip a Melee Weapon for close quarters, so I go full Skyrim and equip a shortsword in one hand and a longsword in the other. After engaging in some melee combat, it turns out that the bridge crew have retreated to the escape pods. Here, I'm directed to level up. I didn't add any skills, instead saving the point for the next levelup, but I did add the Caution Feat to my character. We encounter another Dark Jedi, and Task gives his life trying to fend him off to allow me to escape. Venturing into the Starboard section of the ship, I'm directed to sneak past a Sith patrol as I'm now the only surviving crewmember on the ship. However, I ended up shooting them anyway because I accidentally pressed the option that didn't tutorial me on how to stealth. I do, however, activate the damaged droid sitting next to the door in front of me, allowing it to assist me in dispatching the next squad of Sith Troopers.

After using computer fuckery and a robot to do my killing for me, I manage to loot a vibroblade and an Ion Blaster off a corpse. However, I'm more of a guns kind of guy and the Blaster is only effective vs. droids so I just stick to my trusty Blaster Rifle. I finally make it to the escape pods, only to discover Bastila has already evacuated and there's no reason to stick around. Luckily, Carth was waiting for me, so we escape and head down to Taris as the Endar Spire explodes in orbit. We crash into not-Coruscant, probably killing a few hundred people. No big deal.

Anyway, I have some dreams of fighting a Sith dude or something and wake up in an abandoned apartment a few days later. Apparently, Taris is now under Sith occupation, quarantine and martial law so we're hiding out. I'm also told about how Bastila is one of the Jedi that killed Darth Revan - Malak's old master, so she's pretty important. Apparently, escape pods have been crashing in the "Undercity", so checking those out is probably our best bet right now. Wait.... Halo CE, is that you?

And with that, I'm given my next assignment. Try and find Bastila so that we can get off this planet.

Anyway, initial impressions are good. The combat is surprisingly enjoyable and I'm interested in where this all goes. Hopefully I'll be able to make my writeups a bit more interesting once the game opens up a bit more.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.
