Chose the Excalibur frame at the start due to the game's recommendation, though I slightly regret not choosing something more ability focused. Still have everything basic, aside from dropping the MK1 for the normal Braton (though I seriously miss that mag-size), and so I find myself with questions before I head off into the unknown.

First, how do you unlock codex entries? I know I could simply look this stuff online, but I feel as if it's something I should be doing as if I, myself, am a Tenno search for this strange setting's knowledge. From what I've seen it's intensely interesting, and I don't what to miss out on what the game has to offer.

Second, is there any way to reliably get platinum for some of the heftier frames/weapons? Buying it is a simply solution, but I'm not exactly looking to drop cash on this game.

Excal is a solid choice as far as abilities go, his 4th, Exalted blade when properly modded dishes out some serious DPS. There really isnt any ability focused frame aside from toggle-able abilities.

You scan enemies with codex scanners or get the Helios sentinel to do it for you, consuming codex scanners.

Every frame and weapon is obtainable free, you dont need to buy them. Buy the blueprint from the market, get the materials and build it. Some weapons and frames are Clan Tech, which means you have to get yourself into a clan to access them.

I hated warframe when I got it. It was awful.

I agree. For the life of me I can't figure out what people find so fun about spending about 10 minutes just to destroy a mining machine.
