In Halo 3 what was the point of the flare player wise and the trip mine?

For the flare it was only useful when the AI used it. Due to them being AI the blindness didn't effect them unlike you. When you used it on them they still kept firing at you. For the MP it's still useless on other players. Unless you're able to use something to take it a long ways from you you're just going to blind yourself and your team. Instead of the thing acting like the flash bang in CoD it's a constant blinding light. The only thing it does is stop combat in that area and slow the game down for everyone.

For the trip mine the damage it does is pathetic. It can't even kill a fully shielded player. For campaign use it's only good for trying to get a vehicle and there are times it doesn't work for that. The thing should of had the power to destroy a warthog instead of being another pointless edition to the game just to be in there.

What actually was useful, equipment-wise? Like, the power drain and bubble shield were it. Nothing else was useful. Honestly I just forgot I had equipment.

The regenerator is useful at times. Other than those 3 the others in the MP are just pointless. The radar jammer is very situation based. That thing was truly only good when the Brutes used it. The grave lift was only useful for those puzzle custom maps. There's really not that many times where you need it. What's funny is how OP the bubble shield is. It's basically the armor lock of Halo 3. Once that thing is deployed there's no bringing it down unless it drains itself or you go inside it and destroy it.

What I don't get is why the turret and active camo weren't present in the MP. The turret would be useful for a distraction. In the campaign it's pretty damn pointless.

there is that one skull on the Ark you need the grav lift for. But that's basically the only use in the campaign hah

Trip mines were good for lagging out maps in customs and dropping a free "get yourself kicked by teammates later."

Flare was very situational in the MP, only really working if you were a longshot with it.

Bubble Shield, Power Drain, and Regen were the three core used ones, for obvious reasons.

Radar Jammer was handy for a makeshift jump tool.

Grav lift was neat for some special trick jumps to get into hiding spots.

I often think people forget hooting armour lock brought it down quicker. It wasn't OP at all. At least not compared to the over shield. We can see what the turret would have been like from Halo 4, that thing was useful for brining down a guy's shield just fast enough to get a shot in before he does.

That one tower on high ground with the laser is basically the only time the gravity lift was useful.

Flare and Radar Jammer jumps, bruh.

Also, the trip mine was the shit in the beta.  They nerfed it to uselessness.

Trip mines were great in the beta, where they'd stick to vehicles and blow up a second later.

I liked putting trip mines in areas that were commonly walked.

And radar jammers were cool, same with bubble shield

The trip mine was really only usefull on rats nest if you put it in the corners people typically power slid their warthogs into.

Although that's a thing I liked about equipment. They weren't gaming changing.

Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
The Flare was useless because even if you were completely blinded by it you could still see player's red names clearly.

The Trip Mine was fun to use but its so weak. I liked to use it on Rat's Nest because by the Rocket Launcher spawn there was a cliff and I would always put a trip mine there. One time during a CTF game my Trip Mine launched a fully occupied Warthog off the cliff and got a Triple Kill. Good times.

Everybody forgets about Deployable Cover and how you can shoot through it.
