You are comparing this idea to games that aren't even close to what I'm talking about here. I'm definitely not hoping for something like The Force Unleashed. If anything, it'd be a mix of The Jedi Knight games, Battlefront, Knights of the Old Republic(in the regard you can be whatever basically, a Jedi, Mercenary, etc) along with an open world sandbox like GTA.

I never played Star Wars Galaxies but perhaps that is closest to what I'm talking about here.

That rogue squadron idea is part of what I'm talking about, but add in ground exploration too. You've got all these planets and places you can fly to, then land on and explore. And you are free to do that, or just be stupid and go attack an imperial base alone, steal a ship, etc. I guess people don't like the idea of open world Star Wars games, who'd have thought?
