I lost dogmeat

Trying to get into Fallout 4. After I met the minutemen, dogmeat just seems to have disappeared. How do I get cute doggie back? And I'm so bad at this game, I can't even figure out how to craft beds.

We went to the minutemen. After he said I don't see it being anything between us. Cried all the way home. But I learned my lesson, I want somedog to love me and no dog's ever said that they have.

Go to Sanctuary and scrap all of the doghouses except one. Dogmeat will return there in time.
