Fair enough. Although I can say that campaign weapons are immune to multiplayer nerfs and adjustments. And, fighting AI's is different over players.

If I can say one thing for sure, you could pick up and go with every single weapon in CE's sandbox in the campaign and not have them suck.

How about the Halo 2 water pistols in MP? Those things dominate in the campaign when dual wielded. Although it's all rather pointless if you don't find them interesting I guess.

I would have figured you'd've been a fan of the needler though. Which was a godsend in CE and hilarious in 2 when dual wielded.

i like how it actually showed the needles getting smaller on the weapon itself as you fired it

i thought it sucked, though
or i just sucked with it

halo 3 didnt have bloom. most of the weapons had spread because of the lack of hitscan. bloom is a mechanic which gradually decreases your accuracy the faster you fire, spread is just that... bullets spread out as they travel, becoming less accurate over long distances.

and h3 was actually pretty balanced, all things considered. ive explained it time and time again- the big problem with h3 was the netcode and lack of hitscan, not the weapon sandbox balance. there were maybe 3 useless weapons in h3. still needed a lot of tweaking (equipment mostly), but compared to the others, much more balanced. h2 felt really good but it had serious problems with the BR dominating the sandbox (and bullet mag was ridiculous)

In CE's and 2's campaigns it's a monster so long as you keep the reticule on target. Even on the highest difficulty in CE the needler was a godsend for higher ranked Elites. One full clip into anything and generally it was dead when you reached supercombine status.

And, over time, I guess Bungie decided they wanted to try new stuff out weapon wise. Reach introduced some interesting stuff. 343 continued the trend with Halo 4.

Hey Verb. I never specifically asked yet which has me curious. What speficially don't you like about Halo.

It's a shame that you haven't played campaign. The story mode/ lore is the best part about Halo. The expanded universe moreso than the in-game campaigns.But they're a lot more fun than the multiplayer, probably because the fun weapons to use are actually viable in the campaign.

But otherwise, you've summed up every reason (Except for the maps stuff) why I have a dislike of Halo multiplayer. It's something I literally only play with friends, and why I stopped playing Halo 4 after the title update. It just turned into battle rifle spamfest after that.

BR isn't overpowered.  It's just used the most because it's the gun that rewards skill.  No one should opt for an AR, because its retard-friendly skill gap promotes blindly running to your death.

To me some of the things they added seemed like they were trying them out to see if they want to have them in Destiny or see how they work. So by "demo for Destiny" they were using Reach for the test game. For bloom to me they testing out a recoil mechanic they were thinking about using for it. For armor abilities I find it strange that they added something majoir like that in their last Halo game. You would think adding something as game changing like that would be in Halo 3 so they know what not to do for Reach. Having them in Destiny to me is implying they were testing them out to see if they would work good or not for Destiny.

Bloom was just a half-baked response to "BR is too good at too long range." Nothing more, nothing less.

After you play a few matches, the automatic weapons get stale.  You're just bum-rushing to your death, hoping to catch the enemy choke up.  There's practically no aiming involved, and 2 autos fighting each other is essentially what you described with the shotgun: who shot who first.

Precision weapons have a lot more of a skill gap to them.  They're big for their risk vs reward ideology: there's a huge meta-game behind them, where you need to perfect both your ability to aim flawlessly for a 4 shot kill, and be able to move in a way that throws off other people.

equipment on map could have been done a lot better. tho there was precedent for map pickups/powerups in the camo and ovies that had been in the games since CE.

armor abilities in a loadout system was just a massive step backwards in terms of balance, even from the equipment in h3

Meh, Halo is not my taste, I always preferred games like Quake , DOOM, and Unreal Tournament. I don't know, I guess Halo is too overrated for me. BUT, I will agree the story and the lore is interesting, that's the only thing i liked about Halo.

Tbh I liked dual wielding only in Halo 2's campaign because the dual Plasma Rifle combo shredded everything. In multiplayer though, its a whole different story.

TFW I never got killed in bum rush auto fights because I know how to pulse and aim.

There is literally no situation in which an AR or SMG will outgun the BR, because they both strip shields at a similar rate, but the BR has a potential 1 shot kill once shields are down, whereas the AR does not. Unless you're playing 4 player split screen on an extremely tiny TV, even an inexperienced player can land headshots with relative ease.

Halo 2's brightness was one of the worst features of the game. Seriously, without the Flashlight, you were practically blind for half the campaign, and that was with brightness put up to the max. Somewhere in between Halo 2 and 3's bloom would be better imo.

That's the point.  The AR and SMG are guns with no risk, and not a great reward.  You have to be completely thumbless to miss with these guns.  That shouldn't be rewarded better than a gun that isn't as forgiving.

You're oversimplifying precision weapons.  I have a very hard time believing that you constantly pull 4 shot kills on competent players.

Hopefully Halo 5 improves on other areas.
So far I like it for the most part. Kill cams and ADS bother me but I won't judge it until I played it enough. The beta was fun.
Killcam canbe turned off as per the changes made after the Beta. If you turn it off you get the regular follow-cam.
I really liked Halo 3's follow cam. It started up close but you could zoom out. Halo 2's was uncontrollable, and Reach's didn't zoom in enough for me personally. Still felt far away

It's used the most because it's fucking everywhere and more powerful than the Assault Rifle. You couldn't walk two feet in Halo 3 without tripping over a Battle Rifle.

you'd be right. he has like 50 games played in h3 and a high skill 4, and he has 6 games played in MCC. hes talking out of his ass.

I did the Frag/BR combo all the time on people that shot me first with the BR and I would get them so the person that gets the first shot on you does not always win.

I love Halo 5 so far, the beta had more story than Destiny has had through its whole first year.
