So... I guess I'm going to have to pick up after your horrendous mistakes on here too?
YouTube

D-D-Did ZeRo just finish a tier-list once and for all???

Video is 42 minutes long. So if you don't want to see that long of a video:

Tier-list (according to ZeRo)

Top-Tier:

1. Rosalina and Luma (Of course...)
2. Sonic
3. Ryu
4. Sheik (interesting)
5. Fox (GG)
6. Cloud (I could see all Cloud mains triggered right now that ZeRo didn't put him in top 3, let alone #1)
7. Diddy Kong (makes sense)
8. Mario
9. Bayonetta (Strange)
10. Mewtwo (My man!)
11. ZZS
12. Lucario (Looks like he's starting to get some recognition on the competitive scene)
13. Marth + Lucina (Same for both of them)

High-tier:

14. MK (Sure ain't know Brawl MK, though!)
15. Villager (makes sense)
16. Corrin (Was expecting him to be top-tier, tbh)
17. Pikachu (annoying character)
18. Mega-Man (Scatt and Kamemushi make him look like a threat, tbh)
19. Ness
20. Toon Link

Upper-tier:

21. Olimar (another annoying character)
22. Greninja
23. Pit + Dark Pit
24. Yoshi
25. Peach
26. Lucas (N-air spams for days)
27. Cpt. Falcon (surprised that he's not high-tier)
28. Robin
29. R.O.B
30. Luigi
31. DK
32. Bowser
33. Shulk (Shulk mains triggered that Bowser on top of him. xD)

Middle-tier:

34. Dr. Mario (after playing him for a while, I've seen that he actually has potential now)
35. Charizard
36. Kirby
37. Mr. G&W (Should be higher in the middle-tier region, tbh)
38. Ike (same for him)
39. Palutena (ayyy......)
40. Duck Hunt
41. Wii Fit Trainer
42. Wario (Should honestly be higher than this)
43. Pac-Man
44. Roy (Makes sense)
45. Falco

Low-tiers:

46. Link
47. Samus (Guess she's not the worse anymore)
48. Little Mac (Should honestly be switched in ranks with Samus imo. Plz don't hurt me)
49. Bowser Jr.
50. King DeDeDe
51. Mii Brawler

Bottom-tier:

52. Ganondorf (This was honestly accurate)
53. Mii gunner
54. Zelda
55. Jigglypuff
56. Mii Swordfighter (I lost it when I saw him being the worst, according to ZeRo. xD)

Anyone agree or disagree with his placements of each character? This was his own opinion, so I guess take it with a grain of salt. He counted Marth and Lucina together as one character, and same with Pit and Dark Pit.

Spoiler
Sakurai and Reggie right now:

*Laughing in an evil way*

*Immediately presses 1.1.7 patch*

It's interesting he counted Marthcina as one character when they get different rewards off their moves. Lucas, Kirby, Bowser and Falco are way higher than they should be tbh. I know it's pretty much shilling because I main him but I honestly think Link should be an upper mid tier character. Aside from RosaLuma being one of the hardest counters between any 2 characters in the entire series and Corrin's broken fucking FD-sized lance I think most of his matchups are at worst 60-40 against him.

Interesting top tier, I'd have expected Cloud and Rosa to be 2 and 3 (I still don't know who I'd have as #1 though). Honestly Bowser Jr, Samus and Wario should be higher but the rest I pretty much agree with. Greninja could be a high tier tho

Yeah, there are some notable differences between Marth and Lucina. I honestly think Pit and Dark Pit are actually the same character as a whole, just different themes of personality. I think Falco is accurately placed right where he should be. I agree that Lucas should be somewhere (like third-to-last) at High-tier. I also agree that Bowser Jr. should be higher, probably at the middle of Upper-tier. Same goes for Kirby. I feel that he accurately placed Link where he should be. Same with Samus

Like I said, most of, if not, all Cloud Mains are probably triggered that he wasn't placed on top 3, let alone being the best in the game; esp. seeing Sonic in front of him. Him placing Rosa as the best is simultaneously, surprising, and not surprising. Rosa has, personally, been the reign of Sm4sh since Day 1. But I see Ryu and Cloud having more potential than here. She's only a nightmare because of Luma.

She ain't no wobbling Ice Climbers, though!

It isn't, but not by very much. Marth loses to about 3-5 more characters than Corrin, though Marth's results are way better than Corrin's right now.

YOC, Ryuga, and somewhat Ryo are the Corrins getting results right now (would mention Cosmos but he doesn't travel). Marth has Leo, False, Pugwest, and Mr. E doing a lot.
So are Back Room tier lists based on Tournament results that include Locals? Or is it just their collective voted opinion? A few of their decisions are pretty questionable

I can see Pikachu being lower because there's such a massive gap between esam and the other mains too.
Results from locals/weeklies I don't think are looked at, regionals and majors are the stuff that's really looked at and discussed

Speaking of the Backroom, when the next tier list rolls around... know I contributed to it :^)

Sounds like you're just entering a new level of form tho. How'd you go in the Melee bracket after Losers Finals? P impressive to be doing so well at it despite the lack of practice. It took me ages to get used to the Input precision, movement speed and constant unintentional fast falling.

Well frankly the main reason I'm getting 2nd is 1/2 of the top 2 players are missing, so there's only one guy who can steamroll my ass. The rest, I thought were good. Watched them play. They've got melee tech down nicely. But then I go in there, fumble around, get an occasional gimp, also get chaingrabbed to hell and back, and win.

TLDR Melee is jank and I'm the jankmaster

Even in Melee Tech skill can only get you so far against somebody with a better understanding of Figher interactions as a whole. One of the best 3 players at my locals has never wavedashed or even L canceled in his life and he still fucks you up. I actually do better against him in Smash 4 than in Melee.

Ayyy.

ESPN:

Quote
Team SoloMid's Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios, the most dominant Smash for Wii U player in the world, has been included in the Guinness World Records Gamers Edition 2017 for a win streak of 53 tournaments (actually 56) in a row. The record run, stretching from 2014 to 2015, could be the most dominating streak in modern video games, not just Super Smash Bros.

The incredible run spanned from November 29th, 2014 (UGC Biweekly #17) to October 4th, 2015 (The Big House 5) and features some tough times, including possibly the greatest losers bracket run in all of fighting games at The Big House 5. After falling in the second round of pools and then sweeping to the losers semifinals, ZeRo looked like he was vulnerable for the first time in a long time against Jason "Anti" Bates. Then he brought it back from the brink 2-1 to come back and win before sweeping his way through the loser's finals. In the grand finals he would sweep Nairoby "Nairo" Quezda 3-0 to reset the bracket before again falling to a 2-1 deficit. The unthinkable didn't happen that day; ZeRo somehow came back from the brink once more to defeat Nairo and win his 56th tournament.

Guinness began publishing a Gamers Edition in February 2008 and has continued to cover the records of video games and esports since then. This was the first inclusion of ZeRo's record breaking streak in the series. ZeRo has been a top Smash player across many titles including Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Project M.

Ayyy.
Man Big House 5 was such a hype tournament. I wonder how long ZeRo will stay as one of the top players. Ken's dominant streak ended in '07 but he still goes top 32 consistently.

Indeed.

I don't think he will ever drop from the top/best players, let alone the best, in the Sm4sh metagame. Even if he does/or retires, I think ZeRo will always remain a legend in the Sm4sh competitive community, and the fighting community in general.

tbh, him and m2k, personally, have done a lot to contribute to the competitive scene in both Melee and Wii U

Well I assume you're fishing for gimps the whole game, and Falco's Dair is one of the best spikes so you're kind of in a vulnerable position every time you go for those shenanigans. Think you'll develop a counterplay for him?

Really unsure, it's not the game I invest in. If I were to, main option I see is working on my on-stage techniques so I don't get shined and daired over and over.

Yeah Neutral game is pretty important in Melee, considering with all the Tech being developed it's slowly getting towards 64 levels of '1 win in neutral = 1 stock'

Falco's pillar combos are pretty nasty but if you bother to learn all the crazy tech shit you'll probably just be able to win games by shining cunts to death.

My friend talked smack after taking a set off me at his house today, told me to play serious (I went offstage a ton, went for shinespikes and all that. It's not tournament who gives a fuck right?).

I tell him if he keeps talking smack I'll double footstool him, which I've never even attempted before.
Spoiler
I double footstooled him.

Just finished dead last again at my Melee weekly. I'm actually pretty happy with what I did though.

Normally I play pretty brain dead/autopilot with my Sheik but I'm pretty comfortable with movement. Tonight it was just fucking wack though, the Controller felt like a brick and it really didn't want to do anything I tried, like it would only buffer half of the inputs the game is normally capable of. I was dropping every single SHFFL and Short-hop Special despite being able to do both off muscle memory on the same controller for the last few weeks. I got close to reverse 3-0ing a Samus I normally have trouble with though, I finally figured him out. I mostly needle camped and f-tilted his missiles out of the way and I think once I get comfortable with movement again I'll finally be able to do better at the Tournaments. Got my head back in the game and it feels great
