I still think Samus feels stronger, but one thing that hasn't changed is the fact that every facet of her existence exept for her z-air gets royally fucked over by Mario's cape.

Mario Kart 8 has DLC packs, so I'd just wait. Eventually they'll do that for smash bros.

I do a weekly train/bus trip into the city and back (3 hour round trip), and I'm thinking of getting a 3DS with Smash bros. to kill the time. There's one going for 50 dollarydoos so I might just get that and then sell it for close to that price when I upgrade to an XL.

Good plan or nah fams?

Yeah Nintendo sucks when it comes to cutting prices in my experience. I cant remember any spesific examples, but I also cant remember a time when iv'e ever seen a good sale on an old game or piece of DLC from them either.
