I'm still waiting for the forge ability to spawn something like a warthog with a scorpion turret. But if anybody mentioned that by a thread or post on Waypoint they would get banned or warned due to it being from a mod.

I'm still waiting for the forge ability to spawn something like a warthog with a scorpion turret. But if anybody mentioned that by a thread or post on Waypoint they would get banned or warned due to it being from a mod.

And that has happened before btw in terms of modding.

A few years back on Bnet, I remember I was arguing with a guy about why Halo 3's Forge mechanics were shitty.

He said that Halo 3's Forge was the best "because it took skill"

Lol it took no skill. All it took were a bunch of glitches in the game to pull off Forge art before Bungie turned them into actual options in Reach

For Halo 3 I know in order to get objects to be of the ground you have to save and quit the game for them to stay. I know Halo 3 was their first time at doing an editor, but that ability along with phasing are things that should have been thought of during design. I can't believe nobody during the testing of forge did not think people were going to forge things in the air. You would think it's something they would have thought of when they doing test maps with it.

I never actualy used Halo 3s forge TBH

The only think I used Forge for in Halo 3 was to either dick around with friends by throwing tanks at them or use teleporters to leave the barriers of the map only to get killed by the kill volume later by going to far.

Same here. Just like in Minecraft I'm not creative enough to make anything beyond simple structures and even if I did, I find the feature awkward to use with a controller and finding things in the menu is a pain.

Reach's Forge was an improvement but full mod support would've been much better than "rebuild your favourite levels from x game with astonishing colour variety featuring shades of Grey, blue, and that's it."

It's a shame, really. Halo CE's best feature (aside from competitive quirks such as the overshield rocket jump in damnation) was its custom levels, people are still making maps that are aesthetically pleasing (although they're normally meatgrinders/unbalanced/obscenely slow most of the time), and Singleplayer maps have really taken off.

Honestly I was hoping Halo 3's forge would be a lot like Halo 2's map editor, where you have limited access to the engine and can actually create your own maps.
