the pc community is so helpful

unless you want something that doesn't play to their platform's only strengths, then you can go fuck yourself

if you look, that's about $200 more than what he asked

just say "it's really difficult/impossible to build a working PC for that cheap" if that's the honest truth

Yeah I remembered after I posted, Verb. sorry, I'm having an argument with someone while doing this, so fuck off a little.

I don't know if I can help you unless I am operate in Canadian land dollars. Nothing on my end will net me something in your range. You might have to ask a fellow Canada man.

Or as Verb said  "it's really difficult/impossible to build a working PC for that cheap"

Cystic would go into way too much depth and probably come to the same conclusion.

I'll do it, its impossible for him to get a PC that can play PUBG at min specs with that price, the GPU alone is 269.99 USD...

wtf literal slave driver

This will do what you want, but not at 500, this is the best it could get and still actually work
low price makes it harder to make things actually work.

Go to Goodwill or a local thrift store, look around the PCs for a large case, a 450W power supply, hard drives, and RAM.

Intel G4560 $80
Sapphire RX 460 $95
Compatible motherboard $50-60

Total: ~$250

It's not feasible to get a COTS desktop or parts that will play games for $200. If you scrounge thrift stores for miscellaneous parts, you can spend your budget on the motherboard, CPU, and GPU. If you have a desktop already, you likely have many of those cheap parts you can work with.

Thats also with wanting to play PUBG on min in mind.

Alternatively, as Turkey says you can just go and find used stuff, at low costs.

But thats a fair bit of effort

so you're telling me it's impossible to get something equivalent in power to a console for the same price

cuz my ps4 was 450 CAD bucks and it can run pubg

i appreciate your effort here but i guess this is just a testament to the true versatility of pc gaming

your ps4 is also sold at a loss and the loss is made up from developer licensing costs, game sales, and subscriptions like PSN. at this stage in the console life cycle you're really not going to be able to build a more powerful brand spankin new PC for the same price as a a console. you'll have to wait a couple more years for that to be the case and even then with the current market i'm not sure how that'll play out since we have no idea how long chinese bitcoin farms will be causing the price of high end GPUs to rise through the roof. typically your cost saver with a pc is going to be on the long term since you can normally pick up games cheaper on PC than you can on console and you don't have to pay a subscription to play the online portion of most games.

Commercial-off-the-shelf, or a pre-built computer you can buy at a store.

Windows 8/10:

Control panel > System & Security > System

Or if you use a program like CCleaner (recommended), it'll show it in the tools sections.

if nothing else, this thread is evidence that most of the benefits pc players spew off is hype and bullshit. so i'm happy about that.

this is pretty cool to know

playstation plus isn't necessary, and neither is buying games new, so console gaming really is cheaper

to be FAIR, you and i are in a minority of people who just don't care about things like graphics or any superfluous "advantage" that a gaming pc has to offer

to illustrate what i'm talking about with long run price savings i'll compare my steam and xbox one collection.

i've got about 40 games on my xbox one and 116 on steam. about a third of my xbox one games were given to me for free so for to make things simple i'll say 30 of those 40 games i paid for. over the few years i've owned my xbox one i've paid about 1,800 USD for games and we're not counting any of the DLC or XBL i've bought over those years either. during the entire time i've owned my pc i've probably paid about 500 USD for 116 games which has saved about 1,300 USD in comparison.
