Daily reminder that Vale is the most useless member of Osiris

You know except for the part where she's there single most usefully member when is comes to all things Sanghelios
Literally the only thing she's good for, Locke evidently knows things about alien cultures as he speaks Yonhetian and was a professional hitman, Buck is an experienced soldier and Tanaka has engineering talents which are likely applicable to Human, Covenant and Forerunner technology.

Vale knowing shit about the Sangheili isn't particularly helpful in the grand scheme of things and they're lucky that there was even a Guardian on Sanghelios.
Trade pidgin. Not Yonhetian.
My mistake.
And you call yourself a member of the Yonhet community.
go back to call of duty

Same issue with Reach, but worse: they tried to force us to like this cast of characters, but didn't do nearly enough to give them any actual reason to like them.  I felt like I was following around a bunch of bricks, and what amplified that was how insignificant the traitor-hunt was and how the story was all over the place.   Osiris all had backstories, but those don't really matter: they're just a bunch of cheerleaders that do nothing but try to develop Blue Team's story, since we don't actually see much of them in-game, rather than expand upon their own ones.

Overall, it just felt like 343 cut a million corners with the campaign.  You just watched a series of events with no strong connection: characters and events had a beginning and an end, but everything in the middle was abstracted, underplayed, or cut entirely.  Locke makes his mission seem personal...and then it's not.  It seems like there's going to be consequences for Chief going AWOL...and then there isn't and everyone loves him.  That Spartan Ops ending?  Oh, there's Halsey, welcome back, nbd.

And It's a fucking shame because a character driven story was exactly what Halo 5 needed to be, especially coming off of Halo 4s ending.
We at least did get growth for John as a character. Like By the end we do get to see that he's formed his own oppinons on things he wouldn't have questioned in the past, including The Spartan Program itself, which it seems he finds unethical.
I just wish we got to see that change in progress. I wish other characters got their own arcs too, how they relate to the Chief or how the current events have shaped their character.. and again I love the ending, and the prospect of John and Cortana being adversaries, and seeing what that does to both of them emotionally, as well as Cortana doing what she is as her own way of trying to help the galaxy. I love the prospect of Humanity and probably the other species of the galaxy now having to contend with the now fully organised might of the Forerunners' technology.
The problem is the rest of the game feels like a complete waste of time, and it doesn't earn any grand cliffhanger ending.

Why is this so black?
I can't stand a lot of stuff that 343i has done to the series. I haven't read many of the books myself. But the fact they turned the forerunners from a mysterious ancient race that you never really knew the intentions of to "Grr I am mean alien we shall fight" Pisses me off a lot to be completely honest. I know that they couldn't do strange ancient mysterious mixed with war again but I feel it would be a hell of a lot more bearable then what they've presented with us now.

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.

I wish they had just moved on from the forerunners and the flood altogether and focused on the ramifications of the war with the Covenant. I understand some wanted to know more about the period 100,000 years ago, but I've always seen it as merely the set up for the main conflict. The forerunners fought the flood, they were losing, so they used the Halos to nuke the galaxy, now humanity rediscovered their stuff. That's the backstory, time for the actual plot.

Exactly what I thought. Super shitty considering the forerunners are generic asf now. Not that they weren't before but they're just more so.

I loved how they were setting up a human Great Schism, with the NCA being set up as a massive threat to the UNSC. Nice parallel to Halo 2.

And then they didn't even get mentioned in-game.
