I have always despised midship so I think truth is a horrible map. Aside from that, Empire is fun and the gameplay is fun once I stopped trying to battleield it by only using my sights.

This is literally the worst opinion I have ever read

Spoiler
i still love you

I just think there are many other 4v4 maps that are much better to be remade.

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
On a scale of Halo 4 to Halo 2, how is Halo 5's gameplay?

Halo 2.75

Only way you could compare it to H4 would be sprint's existence (which is a must really), it plays like H2 and most definitely requires strategy and intelligence over reactions

That's good. Has 343 realized that throwing fifty thousand corners on a suit of armor doesn't look good?

It looks a lot like Halo 4, it plays like a call of duty/halo crossover.

I think so, the ODST ("Nightfall") armour looks very Halo 2/Halo 3

Much of the game is played faster and you will have many quick encounters, it stays Halo in the sense of map control but it just has a very COD feel in the way of game flow.

This is only a small thing but not many have made the point yet, with how dark the game is lighting wise it is harder to see grenades, this would have been fine if the  grenades still had indicators, but instead 343 took away the indicator and decided to make it darker :p.

Why is it a must?

Because Halo must have it, not necessarily because it's worse with no sprint-it isn't. Every other FPS has sprint, it has gotten to the point where sprint is as core a control aspect as using the triggers to shoot is, the MCC is living proof that the lack of sprint just feels very outdated-even without any knowledge it would be immediate despite no major graphical difference that H2A is a far older game than H4. Point is it must retain sprint in order to stay relevant, the series must adapt. Perhaps in 10 years not having sprint will be the norm, and I expect that if that happens 343 will drop sprint because it's not something expected of a modern game.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.
I suggest that MM should find me a game to play in.

Okay, now that I've played here are my problems.

SMG is pretty much useless. I got 1 kill with it, nobody even bothered to use it on me. It just about ties or does worse than the AR at close range, but that might be because of moving closer as the SMG fires means it was out of range at first, and the range is horribly short.

DMR is meh, I don't care for it, but it's there and some people killed me with it, so I assume it's viable for something.

Why the fuck do grenades kill me now? I got killed by 1 grenade, as a matter of fact, it killed me and a teammate both with full shields and health off spawn. Grenades never did this before, barely in CE and never in any other game.

Why is the beta so small? Reach offered much more content than this, we have 2 power weapons, the Sword and the Sniper. Reach gave us the Rocket Launcher, Beam Rifle, Pro-Pipe, Sniper, Plasma Launcher, Energy Sword, Shotgun, do you get the point? Maybe it's because it's the first week, but we still had more the first week of Reach Beta, and not having a lot to playtest seems counter-productive, don't you think?

=O Dude. the SMG is on the borderline of being a power weapon. It's got low auto aim for a reason.

Why is the Beta so small though? Probably because we're roughly year out from launch, rather than Reach's Beta, which was 5 months from Launch. And I say roughly because we don't know the release date.

Granted, the experience itself is heavily curated if you haven't noticed. It seems more that they're interested in balancing and testing the game itself instead of just the weapon sandbox. Which is indeed, why the Beta is so early, and can actually be considered a Beta.

Also, did you by chance record you getting killed by the grenade? I've noted that standing directly on top of a live grenade in the game with full health on both accounts results in 100% depletion of the shields, and 50% depletion of direct health.

Actually, it'd be best to record any moments you consider "bullshit", that way you actually have justified evidence from the game itself for 343i's consideration.

Reach's beta came out in May 2010. 4 months before Reach released.
There's still 10/11 months until Halo 5 releases, so they're obviously not as far into development.

Halo 2.75

Only way you could compare it to H4 would be sprint's existence (which is a must really)
Why?
Why is it a must?

Because Halo must have it, not necessarily because it's worse with no sprint-it isn't.  Every other FPS has sprint,
Copying what's popular is a petty reason to add a feature.
With that same logic, why not remove shields too since every other modern game doesn't have shields? People expect games to have no shields, sprint, clamber, ADS, kill cams, and the screen to flash blood red when shot.

Quote
it has gotten to the point where sprint is as core a control aspect as using the triggers to shoot is,

That doesn't really make sense as an analogy, comparing the need for a popular mechanic with a button on a controller doing what it was designed to do.

Quote
the MCC is living proof that the lack of sprint just feels very outdated-even without any knowledge it would be immediate despite no major graphical difference that H2A is a far older game than H4.
Out of all the complaint threads on waypoint I haven't seen one complaining about any of the halo's playing slow.  I've heard people on here and my myself voice Halo 3 feels slower than it should, but that's because Bungie lowered the field of view, decreased movement acceleration, and made it slower; something that could have been fixed in a newer release.  Can you show me a poll or something besides personal opinion that people think H2A feels older than Halo 4?

Quote
Point is it must retain sprint in order to stay relevant, the series must adapt.
I'd rather Halo be a trend setter than trying to follow in the foot steps of every generic modern shooter.  I've never heard any say "Man, I really wanted to by this game, but it didn't have sprint!  Can you believe that?  The game might as well be 20 years old.  Forget everything else it offers.

Quote
Perhaps in 10 years not having sprint will be the norm, and I expect that if that happens 343 will drop sprint because it's not something expected of a modern game.
So it's essentially a gimmick and 343 suffers from keeping up with Joneses.
Play a few games of the beta without sprinting and see what you think of it.

They've still had years and we've seen power weapons and some maps not in the beta, they have them already, other gametypes also shouldn't be that far off.

Yeah, I don't believe that in the least. Fired at a guy who had an AR, we both started firing at the same time we tied. I didn't miss a shot. Unless I see something showing otherwise I don't believe it for a second.

It's going to come out in November, and they've shown a lot of content that isn't in the Beta yet, and other gametypes shouldn't be far out. They should've prepared for the Beta and had ample content for people to test, we don't have that. It's a Beta for a reason, to test things, get feedback, and fix problems. All the stuff the Reach Beta had wasn't magically made in just those last few months, I've seen Halo PC map pack Betas with more content than this.

It was the last game I played, does the game have theater? If not, then no. All I can tell you is that either he had the fucking Holy Hand Grenade, or the grenades in general are ridiculous. I'd guess the first, from what you said.

The problem with building a game is that the development process doesn't center around building a public Beta.

Dunno man. You sure you didn't miss a shot? Fire-rate is fast enough that you wouldn't see a lapse in the hit-markers.

Two makes there more than speakers.
The game plays better than Halo 4, that's a definite. Heavy loss of aim assist, competitive map focus, and an in-game ranking system are the big one's for me.

The weapons feel fine and nice to use, but considering it's a Beta I'll have to excuse the hit detection as it feels really off (almost as bad as Halo 3's bloodshots). The whole competitive focus that the team has really draws me in, but there's still some mechanics and features that I find detract from the whole experience. Mainly being sprint, and Spartan abilities. There are other things as well, but those surely can be adjusted with the game settings and Forge. Asides from that, the minimal irks I have with the game is the non-stop talking, cheesy endings, and the cluster of medals being thrown at you.

As for their choice of weapons, I find it to be a terrible idea to have AR starts, as it just makes things harder for those who are unfamiliar with weapon placements. Especially on Truth, but it feels alright on Empire. I'd rather the option to vote, so it's a more leveled for those who are more on the competitive side.
Taking away most of if not all the AA (aim-assist) was a smart move, but I feel it just makes the game a bit too easy for those automatic users. Their reticle and bloom easily compensate for the loss of AA (which I would be fine with close range), but the addition of the Smart Scope make them easy tools of destruction at close, mid, and far range battles. Not too keen on that. Other than that, I feel the weapons are alright. But I feel that the DMR should have a slower rate of fire, but a faster rate when scoped. As to increase the incentive to use at for far range encounters.

As for the Spartan Abilities, there are some I like, and some I dislike. What I like? Ground slam, Charge, and Thruster Pack. What I dislike? Clamber, Smart Scope, and Sprint. Haven't played with Slide enough to have a better grasp of how it works, so I'll leave it out for now.
Quote
Ground Slam Is easily my favorite ability that they have to offer. Not spammed too often, hard to use, and fun. At first I felt it was "too hard to use," but the more I thought about it the more I found that to be right. Nothing of that power should be easy, but when you do get it right with timing, and precision, it feels extremely rewarding. I love it.
Charge: I find it easy and simple. I don't see a place for it out of how redundant it is, but it's a nice visual aesthetic for a melee.
Thruster Pack: Would usually be something that I'd have an issue with, and for the most part I do find issues with it. A press of a button that can get you out of a scenario you brought yourself into more often than not would be shamed, but I feel it's more welcomed here than Halo 4's Thruster Pack. Solely being due to the fact that it's universal, and the maps are make it more often than not a problem if you do use it as an escape tool.
Clamber: Something I'm not too fond of, because it seems to void any form of trick/skill jumps. Missed your jump? Just clamber up it. It feels more like a cater to the casual crowd more so than a competitive addition. That, and I can only see how much of the item count people are going to use when it comes to negating this thing.
Smart Scope: You're already familiar with how I feel on this, seeing as how I put it in together with how I felt about weapons, so you can just use that for reference.
Sprint: Oh boy, sprint. This is what I dislike the most about Halo 5. Too much fleeing. Way too much. Was an issue with Reach and still is with 5. Sprint is just something that shouldn't belong in a competitive shooter. Some will say that it's a "tactical withdrawal," but it's nothing more than a map stretching and escape artists tool. It's nice to see that they're looking for ways to negate this sort of behavior, but that's just the nature of this mechanic. That and it doesn't help that you can sprint forever. Not good.

That's all I have for now. May or may not update this, depending on how the Thread goes.

On a scale of Halo 4 to Halo 2, how is Halo 5's gameplay?

Without sprinting in the beta you can survive, but your offensive capabilities are drastically handicapped.

Many other games have shields, Halo is far from an exception.

I'm forced to play Halo with those that are uninitiated, I have a lot of family and friends that either have no knowledge of Halo or extremely little knowledge. And those people struggle in H1-3, constantly moaning how there is no sprint, and about how much "better" every other FPS is because it includes it. That's the average gamer right now, that's 9/10 people, immediately when I reluctantly put H4 on instead suddenly i'm hearing things like "this game is amazing", purely because they can now sprint. And using Waypoint as an example is astonishingly stupid, they represent the 1%, and the site itself just wipes away any credibility.. You are using two Halo communities as an example, so the responses will naturally be biased towards hating sprint, and what i'm saying is that the majority of gamers see sprint as something essential in a modern FPS.

That's a problem I noticed.  It seems easier for people who die to respawn and run back to a previous engagement area.  On truth for example, if there were 2-3 people at tower 3 and I'm in a base and kill someone, they can sprint and boost off their spawn quickly to flank me or reinforce that group if I pushed up.  Which would be valid tactic but I feel it has to do with an imbalance between spawn distance and map mobility.  A lop sided engagement can last long enough for someone to keep respawn and right away run back to a fight they lost.

More games don't have it than those that do.  Your same logic of evolving, conforming, and adapting could be applied to those games as well.  Eventually there'd only be a few games with them and then it'd be "oh this game is so ancient, it has shields!  CHANGE OR DIE!"
Can you name 5 AAA FPS games that came out that included shields plus health in 2014?

I don't see how using waypoint, a place to voice opinions about halo to a community and developers, is any less intelligent as anecdotal evidence than you using "friends and family" and saying they encompass 9/10 gamers opinions.  If people want to move faster, 343 should just remove the animation and include a reusuable speed boost in place of sprint.  That way, people can still shoot as they chase as opposed to lowering their guns and it could be used for strafing.

Grenades are certainly not OHK, but this can happen [getting shot while being naded makes it seem like one grenade killed you].

FEAR makes me <3 this feature. [Though it was in previous Halo games too, not just making a statement about H5]

Also because PW are on a static timer it's possible to CE style equip an entire team with power weapons lmao, just saw a stream where some guy had 3 PBs on his team

I didn't throw a grenade, I saw the grenade indicator pop up as it was thrown at us, then dead. I know I wasn't at low health or shields, because I was playing around with a glitched Spartan corpse that was standing up and nobody was around to shoot me. Maybe my teammate threw a grenade and it got shot as the other grenade went off, idk.

Yeah, I don't believe that in the least. Fired at a guy who had an AR, we both started firing at the same time we tied. I didn't miss a shot. Unless I see something showing otherwise I don't believe it for a second.

I have literally no clue then. The thing has been next to useless every time I got my hands on it, which was whenever I wanted to since nobody else seems to pick the thing up.

Is the killtime really that much better than the AR? It tied or barely won whenever I had it.

B e t a. Beta

You should've read my other replies. There are less options than the Reach Beta in terms of customization, seeing as how they're just reusing models from Halo 4 and slightly updating them, this shouldn't be difficult for them to do. It's also rather silly that they removed the shoulder armor options for this Beta, we had that in Reach and Halo 3.

Granted, the Reach Beta had much less customization options than the full game, but the Beta also had more options than Halo 3's final release did. Point is, it's not very impressive and good for marketing.
